Video Glitch?

I haven't been able to watch music videos or movies since the first of the upgrades have taken place. Once in a while I actually get a choppy broken picture that occasionally changes frames... if Im lucky. I seem to have a problem with the music being choppy as well.. none of this happening before any of the upgrades started a couple months ago or so. I kept hope with each upgrade, the problems would be resolved, and have not yet.

Any answers/suggestions would be much appreciated (Yes, I have the most recent version of QT )

Tried to reply but wouldnt let me. Yes, video works fine outside of SL. Its only in here that I cannot play video.. ive changed every setting I can, nothing helps. Most i get is 10 seconds and then it freezes...

Posts: 2,347 Hi Wildheart! Please see if you can play the video/movies outside SL first on your desktop. If they play there fine, then there is an issue within SL, and we'd like to get more information. More often than not though, it's a bad stream from another website rather than SL.

Heya WildHeart... nice to see you here too. It's good because this is the area where conversation can flow re: things you can give a spin. Here are some things to ponder about:

1. Do you remember which version of SL the problems started with?
   
2. Have you done basic things like completely uninstalling--making sure all traces are gone--and then freshly reinstalling both SL and QT?
   
3. When something like this happens to me, what I do (I'm on Windows XP) is I set up a NEW user account on the same computer and log into it, so it's pretty clean and there's not really much else running at the same time. Just check to be sure QuickTime and Second Life are installed on that user account too, and see what happens to the movies now.
   
4. This also happens to you when you use the latest 1.8.1.9 Preview? (Final 1.8.2 to be released this Wednesday).
   

Also it helps to give your computer system specs if you'd like. ^_^ Hopefully a fuller picture will emerge of what might be happening.

Nope, sorry dont remember what version it started with, but its quite annoying

I have uninstalled and reinstalled SL.... as well as quicktime, even tried using different versions of QT as well.

System specs are:

WinXP

AMD Athlon 1.40Ghz, 1.50 GB ram
NVDIA GeForce FX 5700 Ultra

I have the same problem. I've not been able to see movies in SL since the first day they were available to us - whatever version that was.

I get maybe 30 seconds, then it stops, if I hang around and wait it eventually starts again, but from the beginning !

I have P3 (i think) 3.3mhz
1gb of ram
120gb HD
256mb Radeon Atlantis
1mb broadband

It's very frustrating. My music is very erratic too, it will play for 10 mins or so, then stop. Sometimes it will start again, sometimes i have to hit stop/play. I have my music on the lowest quality setting at 32.

Yeah this is something i have been having as of late.

I have the latest drivers for my hardware....newest quicktime and reinstalled SL and even defragmented.

The movie starts, usually after a long span of hangtime. Then after a bit it stops and restarts..tried clearing cache...tried rebooting and starting the movie in a different way.

Nothing.

AMD 64
1.8 Mghz
1 Gig of ram
Nvidia 6600 with 256 ram
