Ok, never had this problem before! This only began late last night but seems to occurring intermittently since then & quite frequently. I tp somewhere & get that dreaded, rude 'Second Life has logged you off...' grey screen message. On trying to get back in I get to the 'Waiting for region handshake....' message then it fails with 'Unable to connect. Login packet never received by login server. Please try again in a few minutes....'
Anyone else with adsl24 or an Enta ISP having the same issues?

Don't have a clue really. I am sure that you have probably cleared your chache, but you might also try defraging. Pure misery when you can't get it

Ha! You posted at the same time as me. Are you an Entanet customer? I am too. Maybe the problem is there? Added: I've checked the Enta site and they report no problems since 22nd August. It's all very annoying. Added: I ran secondlife with a console and it's repeating the message "idle_startup: Waiting for seed grant ....", preceded by the time. It's also failing to contact 72.5.12.157:13006, though I can ping the address quite happily. It's not a caching issue, since I get the same results on another account (on the same PC). Caches are not shared across accounts. Added: Are you running Linux? There's a thread called "Unable to connect to Second Life" in the Linux forum dealing with the same issue, going back to early summer. Added (next day): It works! My speculation is that there was a problem with the server running the place where I was teleporting to. A lot of people who've had this problem state they got it after being disconnected mid-teleport.

Or maybe it was Enta I've just received a message from ukfsn - who supply Enta to me - which, in part, states
"Having looked over the usage data for the past few days and discussed it with senior Enta technical staff it's clear that there is spare capacity in the network for now (with the exception of the short period between 10:30pm and midnight during the week and at the weekend when about 200 heavy p2p users are grabbing enormous amounts of capacity in addition to the generally increased demand."
I don't have trouble late in the evening, but I'll be closely monitoring the weekend situation.

I also had this issue... i figured the region handshake works fine as soon as i disable the firewall on the computer... as soon as i enable it, i get the annoying "waiting for region handshake"-message again...

From: Vanezza Zenovka I also had this issue... i figured the region handshake works fine as soon as i disable the firewall on the computer... as soon as i enable it, i get the annoying "waiting for region handshake"-message again... Nope. The firewall doesn't have any effect for me. It's a server-side problem - and it's happening again, just after all the rolling restarts. Oh nasty! [Added] Just noticed that LL has re-opened the issue of gridwide slowdown (see http://blog.secondlife.com/2007/10/05/gridwide-slowdowns-3/). That's the problem, I think. [/Added]
