Quicktime issues (login mainly)

I'm guessing this is more of a problem on my end since I don't see any threads about this, but here goes...

For some reason my Quicktime and SL are not getting along. This is a recent development, say the last two months or so. As a game mechanic, it doesn't bother me to much, I don't watch that many videos, but as it prevents me from logging in, I don't like it. I have uninstalled Quicktime about 5 different times over the last two months. Up until this time, I had encountered no problems between QT and SL.

I go to log in and about halfway through the login bar, it stops and stays at "Initializing Quicktime". If I wait 3-4 minutes it will progress to the next item and freeze again. After about 10 min total, I give up.
If I then uninstall QT (which takes forever for some reason..) SL will load right up and run without issue. I am fine with this most of the time, but I do occasionally want to watch something out of SL that requires QT. This happened again the other day when I updated iTunes. It reinstalled QT and SL was ok for a few logins, but then it froze up again on the login.

windoze XP
P4 2400
768Mb Ram
ATI 9700 TX

Any thoughts?

Hi, it's me again.

Well it just hit me again. Tried to start SL and the login process held up at the "Initializing Quicktime" point again. Tried it twice, no luck. Let it send in some crash logs, but will not work today with my QT.
It has been working very well for the last week or more. Not soon after the first post on the 12th, I needed to use QT and loaded a fresh version again. No issues until tonight and then Boom, hangs at login.

I am at a loss for ideas on what might be doing this.
Anyone?
