Right I first ran into this problem right after tha patch when a friend was trying out his brand new Space monkey Deliverance which we had to buy twice since he was getting his first right as the grief spheres brought everything down.
Unfortuantely the darn thing was floating in the air right in fron of him when he went to wear it. Which was odd because the one I bought mere moments before the grief crash was attaching juts fine.
we contacted the maked who was kind enough to issue us new ones even though I wasn';t having problems with mine. In fact earlier today I was out hunting another friend with this wonderful device of mayhem in jessie and it was a blast.
but an hour ago when I attached it I ened up having the same problem as my first friend. the gun now floats in fronts me and point to my left. Even worse when I went to switch over to my redemption pistols from C-tech the right hand gun had flipped around and was pointing back towards my hand. This is infuriating because not fifteen minutes before I had been happily blasting scenery with my beloved pistols and they ahd been fine.
So I switched over to the P-90 I got from Golgotha and it attaches in the normal manner.
so this means two thirds of my arsenal is currently in the toilet even though a hadnful of hours to a few minutes ago they were fine.
Someone please explain to me what might have happend and how I can fix it?
I'm loath to contact the makers for new ones since as I said before they were fine untila short while ago and I predict having the same problems with the new versions until If figure out what I or the uprgade have done to my weapons.

Have you tried simply moving them back into place? Wear the gun, and if it puts you into mouselook mode, back the camera out to normal mode. Then right click on the gun and select "Edit". Now just use the manipulator handles to move and rotate the gun how you want it.
It's odd that the attachment location got screwed up in the first place, but you should be able to fix it easily.

the problem with moving them back into place is twofold.
1)it's annoying to have to do this for every other gun I own.
2)it's most likely going to happen again until I know what's causing it and/or LL fixes this bug

Looks like we goofed and were attaching things to the head. Now, objects should remember their last attach point. Try right-clicking the inventory item and Attach To-> appropriate body part). Hopefully the offsets haven't changed and it'll be in the right place. If not, you may have to right-click and Edit it to move/rotate it back into place. This should only be necessary for objects you used during the bug, and once reset, they'll stay fixed.

well I juts spent the last thirty minutes painstakingly nudging my right hand redemption abck into place. and when I deattached and reattched it was fine until I put the sfety back on and then it flipped around again. manually attaching the gun to the right hand has not helped either.
I had a chat with the gent who made the spacemoneky Deliverance(very nice fellow who's been very patient with me) and he said something to the effect that it had been something in the scripts or somesuch. Since I'm no builder I wasn't paying attention since I was to busy giggling and kissing my newly fixed toy
Now I think he's right since my gun is fliiping around when I change it from combat ready to non combat ready. whihc is a pain becasue I love my twin pistols(they match the outfit) yet there's no way I'm going to bother with repositioning them every time I use 'em. Especially when you conisder how often I get blasted and have to restart my combat mode.
I even worked up the nerve to ask the manufacturer for a reissue only to find their store gone. all in all not a fun consumer experence.

I've been having the same issue. It happened all of a sudden on something I was working with scripts and all of a sudden it's coming up backwards. I've tried what Lee Linden suggested but to no avail.
The funny thing is, this was a bug from the Preview Grid. I remember playing around with something transfered from the Main Grid to Preview Grid and, after some fiddling, it also had the same behavior. I even remember submitting the bug reports and getting a response from Dan Linden that it'll be fixed in 1.7(46).
It's gotten to the point where I'm refusing to take off any attachments, including prim hair, because I'm afraid that it'll effect that as well.

Out of all the posts about problems, this one gets responded to by a Linden and the rest get ignored.
Nice work.

Yep, same problem with me. A friend gave me a whole pile of guns, and i was having fun with them. However every so often when i tried one i'd get an error box that says somthing to the effect of ANIMATION_TRIP_SOMTHING... permission for control override not set... or somthing like that.
At first only my Halo1 AR didnt work, then the bug slowly spread to all my guns, so only my two of my handguns work!!
I have 2 models of a couple of them, one thats not scripted or functional, just the model, and one that is scripted and shoots. The model-only one snaps to my right hand just fine. However if i try to equip my scripted gun, it spins around onto its side pointing left, or flips up and aims at my head, or hovers a foot and a half in front of me. I just dont get it.
If I Edit and flip it back around, it only halfway works. The gun will shoot and stay streight, but the 'aim down the sight' pose dosnt work. The worst thing is that if i detatch it and then reattach it, the position gets re-borked! Oh but sometimes it dosnt get messed up when i reattach it. In fact, there's a random chance that it'll either attach to my hand properly, or spin around and float.
There's just no sense to it!
I dont know why only my handguns work (and one M60 machine gun i got from another friend, i'm waiting for that one to break too), I dont know how the gun keeps spinning around and pointing in random directions AFTER I've fixed it. The attach point on all my guns has always been my right hand, yet one by one they all got messed up.
Grrf... could it be the scrpits?? Pose interaction? I dont really know a lot about all that. Any help out there?

Any help out there? It could be the sim. I recently had the same difficulty last Friday and reported it. In my bug report, I found the sim I was in still on the 1.7.1.2 build. I went to a public sandbox on the main grid and found that I could attach them normally. Now, if you've built them or have mod permission, I'd suggest tearing the gun apart and relinking it. I did that the first time and it worked. Other than that, wait for Wednesday and hope the new client patch fixes it. I have a feeling it will, as the rolling server update might be missing some sims.
