Okay...I can't log in because my clock isn't set correctly?

What the hell kind of message is that? I log in and I can't because my clock isn't set correctly, so I check it...and it hasn't come off the regular time schedule. X month, X day, X year - I double checked it and it's all correct.

It means your maternal clock...its not ticking right.

Of course it's not ticking right. I've spent hours out of my normal routine to try to get SL working. What scares me is that they know this.

That error comes up when there's a problem authenticating the security certificate. The usual reason for it is that your system clock is set a couple years out of date. Click on your clock and see what year it says. :)
