Anyone have anything on the following problem:
NVidia 6800 Ultra has the latest drivers, dated 11 March 2005. Card runs stable w/o issues on an Intel 845 motherboard with the latest drivers. Same card continually exhibits redraw and memory errors on an Intel 865 motherboard with the latest drivers, both in 2D and 3D, sometimes severe enough to lock up. Especially in SL. A restart on the 865 board solves the problems for about fifteen minutes, and then they start again.
Both boards run two older NVidia 5950's w/latest drivers without problems. Both boards have the latest drivers from Intel.
This is not a heat problem; the GPU temp never exceeds 55C. Doesn't seem to be a card problem, as the card works with the 845 board. Doesn't seem to be a motherboard or chipset problem as the 865 board runs overclocked 5950 cards fine. Intel claims no incompatibilities between the 6800 and the 865 board.
I've played with AGP settings, turned clock settings way down, turned off performance features, disabled hardware acceleration, etc. Also played with the motherboard video settings, apeture, etc. No success.
Oh, and this is the second 6800 card I've tried. The previous card showed the same problems.

I have a 6800 GT on an MSI 865PE Neo2-P board with 1gb of 3200 DDR Ram and a 3.2 ghz P4 (800mhz FSB) and it has been running just fine. Do you have enough power? You need a Power Supply with at least 480W according to the specs, but can get away with a lot less, especially if you are using a reliable PS, like a TruePower from Antec. Here is a short article about the Ultra's power consumption. Maybe the 865 board sucks a little more power than the 845, causing your problem.

It's a good suggestion, Alan. However, the 865 board has an Antec 550 watt PS, and the 845 board has an POW 380 watt PS. I've even swapped the power supplies to see if that was the problem. No joy.

Is this an AGP or PCI-x card?

AGP card, Lee. So were the 5950's previously on the board. The board does not have an integrated Intel graphics system.

And on a related note, I noticed the thread about corruption on an NVidia 6800/Mac system, and how it might be caused by memory splitting between dual monitors. Both my 845 board and my 865 board use dual monitors in span configuration. Again, the 5950's run well on both boards in this circumstance; the 6800 runs well with the 845 board but shows serious issues with the 865 board.
