I had an issue awhile ago where I seemed to lose connection when in Second Life just out of nowhere and when I was connected at the time. Since then, I haven't been able to log back in (it only gets to 'region handshake') and the message I get is 'unable to connect. Login packet never received by server'. A friend suggested I clear my cache, but after doing so I still got the same message. I also checked for firewall, but I disabled the one that came with Windows. The only thing I know of left that may be causing it is the new internet service I got (Comcast), but if anyone can enlighten me on something I may have missed, I would appreciate it!

I have been having the same issue for over a week. Submitted a ticket and got one response and havent heard anything yet besides it seems there is some packet loss somewhere in savvis.net servers on the way from me to linden labs servers. Find a program called WinMTR and download it and run it and tell it to point to "data.agni.lindenlab.com" and see if you have alot of packet loss somewhere in the route. My ISP says its not their problem since the loss in not in their servers and I am assuming that Linden labs will say its not their fault because the loss isnt in their servers either but who knows until I hear back from them again. here is an example of my WinMTR report.

I have a few more tricks to try, but if that doesn't work, I will try your method. Thanks!

This all was the fault of my ISP - Windstream. I have DSL and Roadrunner now and the connection on the cable modem works fine while the dsl modem loses packets.
