I am getting repeat errors in attempting to install the new update.. EVERY attempt either via attempting to connect via SL or by downloadinging the installer in full from the website fail and provide messages that the installer is corrupt.

try re-download the update, and once you do, hold off, do a scandisk, and disk degragment.
If you dont get any major issues it should not show a CRC error.
