Crash!!!

Well I am now crashing like multiple time a day which was not the issue prior to last update. I tried contacting Live Help at which point I was told by Dee Linden to update my soundcard drivers. ?? She asked that I humor her and try it, so I did. Upon logging back in I crashed twice in a 5 min period.

The crashing combined with the horrid lag issues have made what was tolerable simply unbearable. I hesitate even trying to have events as generally no one can move at all under an fps of like 2 or maybe 3.

Mostly at this stage I would like to be able to exist again and actually stay connected to SL since I am paying for it - Let's have some service and see what solutions you can offer and get this resolved quickly.

I knew all the praise of this update was so quickly issued, as EVERY update has produced problems and this one even more so.

I spent quite a while updating ALL my drivers on my system and made ZERO difference. A little customer service would be appreciated and some that does not include simply blaming everything on my pc for some off the wall reason.

I did not crash before...why now???

Don't bother giving your pc specs, its not you! It's SL! Take your time and browse through this forum, it's stuffed with players posting with specs and the numerous things they tried to solve this.
Sadly, it's all speculation, nothing really helps.
I'm one of them, yesterday i could manage to stay in SL an avarage of a half hour at a time, the days before that not even 5 min, what changed yesterday? Nothing

All my drivers are updated, i tried two different videocards, i reinstalled SL about 20 times, tried every possibility in my preferences. You can be sure: it's not us, it's SL.

Building became a major pain, hence if i can manage to stay in long enough to rez a prim.

I love the changes to SL, the light, the flex prims: good job! However once again LL decided to drop in a patch that wasnt ready or not tested enough.

People have payed me in advance to build stuff for them, amounts that are quit something worth in rl and i cant stay in SL to do what i'm payed for. I have a splendid reputation and now i feel desperate, because for the first time in two years i don't keep my promises and i can't do anything about it

Good advice, don't post your specs NOT!...So far I seen 2 people scream like crazy, both said they updated there drivers, both did not, so always good post your specs.

Then maybe we can find something in common and track it down, so don't take that advice, yes, there is problem, but a bunch of people in the corner screaming is not going to help.

While post your spec, if LL see something in common, said type of cards, same driver version, same motherboard, etc, etc, a chance to be fixed, but by posting I am not working, please fix, well..nothing will be done.

So please post you specs, if nothing can be done, atleast a chance of finding something common to get it all fixed.

This update work great for me, gained FPS, have not crashed, so if it is SL, then don't you think you should help find the issue, so please don't take advice from above, post your specs and lets see what can be done.

I reported the post Leyla made anyways, I suggest you do the same since we are trying to see what if anything is in common.

Doesn't look like you do meet the requirements Leyla, maybe asking for peoples specs isn't such a bad idea now.

Funny nearly every thread i seen so far that has crashes seem to have similarities like these;

; Unsupported video cards,
that "luckilly" worked for them till update demanded more on vid.card side , boom it dont work to well anymore, Lee said it best

The problem is, we say "draw this" and Intel Graphics says "omg I can't draw that blargh" and crashes, or quits,or otherwise bails out

Dropping your pc spec in a thread can be helpfull since alot dont check system requirements.

Yes i have some oddities crashing to since update nothing major yet , reported Torus bug when cutting/shaping them reverts back to old parameters.

FINALLY somebody explains at least a semi-why other than "it's not supported"! Deeetaaaaiiiillllls! XD

Incidentally, my intel card seems to be able to run at these settings (which I am reposting everywhere to try and help people, so forgive the repeats and just smack me if I get annoying):

Disk cache size set to maximum.
Graphics:
-Draw distance 64
-run in a window
Detail:
-Normal rendering, turn off ALL the bells and whistles as far as lighting and such goes. I seem to still be able to have mesh details at default settings.
-terrain detail low
-no avatar vertex (dunno what difference it makes as I don't have it as an option lol)
Adv. Graphics:
-Graphics card memory set to 16MB. Your textures will suck majorly, but you lag less it seems.
-Max particle count: 0
-Outfit composite limit: 0
-fog distance ratio: 4.0 (I can't ever remember if you put that up or down to reduce lag though... I just tend to go to debug and turn off fog and clouds, though I haven't done that yet and am running okay)
Audio:
-No streaming is turned on.

The graphics card memory set at 16 is what made the big fix. Yes, mine is actually 128, but setting it at 16 seems to make SL not attack it with so much, so you don't die.

Well, I have a 6800GT card with the latest drivers.

I still crash - not as frequently as some people, but enough to be annoying.

I reformatted my pc, to get rid of the SP2 because the default windows firewall was booting me from internet several times a day, yes, even if the firewall was disabled.
A computertech sat on my machine, trying to fix it, then saying it's fixed but in the meanwhile scratching his head and looking kinda puzzled.
Right, it wasn't fixed. So i reformatted and i take a huge turn to not have to install SP2 again.
But,Lee, if you promise me i will NOT crash anymore if i install it, i will, but can you promise me? And no don't scratch your head like that...

If the Windows firewall was disabled then why are you saying it’s booting you from the Internet, its disabled, its something else causing your problem. Maybe updating your network card drivers would help in that situation. What chipset do you have on your motherboard? Because if it’s a NVidia then that requires SP2 otherwise you can’t update them. Why should Lee promise that you wont crash if you update to SP2? If you meet the requirements, worse case scenario it will give him an opportunity to help you since right now he cant.
