I tried to watch a movie today and much to my dismay, the lag was horrible. The movie would run a few seconds then lag and sound would be lost, picture would still be there and running a little skippy but not too bad, but there was no sound. I could hear the land sounds (i.e. water, footsteps). I tried updating my graphic and sound drivers and installing the latest version of quicktime. I can play videos ect. without this problem. Any ideas on what is causing it is much appreciated.
Pentium 950 3.4 Ghz dual core 2 Gigs of RAM NDIVIA GeForce 6500 Intergrated sound 3 Mbps Cable internet

I upgraded my sound card hoping that might help matters. Ran movie at slowest setting, which did help some, longer frequency of sound but it still went out. I pinged the server the movie was on and got 100% packetloss. Went to a theater, assuming the movie there was on another server, same problem. Bandwidth is set to max. Please someone help me figure this out.

You have to uninstall quicktime and download an older version of it. That solved the problem for me. Too bad i forgot the version number. Trying to look that up as we speak.

Bandwith setting in SL dont really do anything for movies , video takes what it can get. 3mbit ((339 kB) isnt fast for video stream really, recommended least 10mbit(1280 KB/s) to avoid annoying skipping. Most streams go by 150/300/600/900/1200 (kb/s), a movie can be quite alot higher. If you can check your down/upload when you try to watch ingame stream see if it max your network download. Quicktime in SL just streams to you doesnt cache, so youll get exactly what you have " few seconds then lag and sound would be lost, picture would still be there and running a little skippy" Quicktime 7 does work for SL really, its just oddity and annoyance SL can do, that make it easier to downgrade
Im bored so if you can post what movie and where id go gawk at it to see how fast it want to be downloaded <.<

checked out the place, and its not very heavy so thats prob not why its studdering, (80kb/s ish constantly stream) Im using quicktime 7.1 and works had older one to but then i got the dotty wierdness so i said meh forget it ill install 7 , restarted pc and went back to the land, clicked start movie , same dots...and black, started. So whats left to try, uninstall it reinstall , might be lossyness to you from isp that make it studder, or something is eating your bandwidth, got to check out/in downloads with something for that. You could try this one to see what speed you get if its to low its choppy, if something is constant uploading it will chocke cable to, other reason i could think of to many on the cable, isp where i lived had to many people daytimes it was pure nightmere hell lag slow download speeds, they sooo didnt deliver the speed they promised. http://www.netlimiter.com/download.php NetLimiter 2 Monitor Version: 2.0.8,Freeware Description: Internet traffic monitoring tool OS: Win2000 and later Download: Download link

Try disabling one of the processor cores. CTRL+ALT+DEL look under processes for SecondLife.exe, Right click SecondLife.exe and select "Processor Affinity", now there should be two check boxes, just uncheck either one and click ok. Now enjoy the game.
You have to do this each time you load the game, but I know this fixes 90% of the lag issues with dual core amd's, don't know about intel's tho.
