Ive never heard of that particular issue, however, check your system specs, then take a look at the system requirements http://secondlife.com/corporate/sysreqs.php

I get the same thing, never happened to me before this update. I more than meet the system requirements and have been able to get on by making new avatars after each time I crash. I'm tired of wasting my lindens on designing new avatars everyday to play for a few hours....

My original account, I got the "unable to connect to a simulator" message.
My secondary acct I was able to log onto, played for a few hours. Logged out and got that message when i tried logging back in an hour later.
I created a third acct. Played for a few hours, crashed and again, couldn't connect to a sim.
Tonight I made a 4th...repeat of the rest.

They insist it's on my end, it's not. My rl roommate plays SL and I logged into his acct just fine and he's been playing SL for 2 days now while I've sat 10ft from him miserable.
We tried logging my acct on his computer, again same message...

So, explain this to me, plz? We use a router, I did a bandwidth check online...result was 'awesome' for my area. I have uninstalled and reinstalled many, many times. I tried using the 1.10 version, was forced to upgrade...I downloaded from the SL site also. My accounts are active, this was also verified by a Linden, I have no blemishes on my record, so to speak. I've posted about this time and time again and I'm damn ready to just give up and return to The Sims Online...atleast there it's only $80/month to Maxis compared to $200-300 to Linden Labs.

This is definately not a computer problem... I made another account so that I could play, and I play her just fine. I just can not sign on to my main account.

There are 3 accounts that I know of that are having this same problem. They were all in the same group. If I look at my main account's profile in SL, my group is gone... It is not listed in the other 2 account's profiles either. We just had 3 people in the group to keep it active, and they are the 3 accounts that can not sign on. So why is my group gone? Why are the only 3 people that were in that group having this same problem? I dunno... very tired, and very frustrated. :(

...err hopefully that all makes sense.

I got several of my friends in totally different states to try to sign into my account, all of which have all the requirements to play the game. They all get the same message. So this is definately not a computer problem.

I sent an email to support... I got a reply, but *sigh* ...it was blank. So, no clue what is going on there... One thing I do know is I am calling SL first thing in the morning...

ugh! What a weekend... :/

Yahoo email has a problem with sl support emails. They state:

From: someone

***Using Yahoo Mail? If this message appears empty, try forwarding it to a non-Yahoo mail account. Your answer is there..we promise!***

Unfortunately this message is also not visible with yahoo accounts. Alternatively you may try saving the message locally or viewing the email source. Allthough I am not yahoo user and can not guarantee that these alternatives work.

thanks for the comment, but it did not work... blah. i forwarded the email to several other emails (hotmail & gmail) still no luck. although i did come across another forum post about this problem...

"Just before the issue started I had changed my group officer title, using odd characters to make a weird design in the name. That is what caused the login error. Anyone else having this problem, just have a Linden change your group name to default, thanks again Nicole Linden."

I used odd characters in my officer title as well... so I am off to tell a Linden! yay!

*cross fingers & toes!*

hope this helps! ;)

also can't log in
07-24-2006 12:41
As far as I know, I don't have any groups with odd characters in the title.... and I can't log in either. I can on my paid account, but not on the free one I play all the time. and a friend of mine can't either.
I got the blank emails and aslo can't read them even by forwarding them. I can't get any help from anyone either, called and got nothing but a recording telling me to leave a message, the linden I talked to in world last night couldn't help either.

This is frustrating me, that alt has all my money and I can't access any of it now, besides the fact I play that alt more than my paid account.

Doesn't anyone know what's going on?

Have you tried logging in to a specified zone (as in type the target zone)? I know it should automatically relocate you if the sim is down but try logging directly into Morris or Gukyeol

No I haven't tried that, I don't know how. This is really frustrating too, neither of us can get anyone to help.

How do I log in to a target location? I log in to the same location, my home, just fine with my other avatar, it's just with Lacey that I can't get in.

Ok, yeah, it's likely something connected with the avatar.

But try to login to another location anyway. When you start the client, there's a drop-down menu at the bottom. Select <type region name>.

It's in the group names/titles. Any characters other than numbers or letters will stop you from logging in, have to get a linden to change the names in your groups before you can get in.
