Can't stop walking/flying.

This problem seems to have only occured since the last update. I frequently find that when I'm walking or flying and I want to stop I can't. Even though I take my fingers off the keys I continue right through the ground sometimes and sometimes right off the map!!.When I eventually stop I seemed to be returned to the place where I originally wished to stop.

Being relatively new to SL, I don't know whether this is a problem experienced by just myself or many others, but I'm sure it didn't happen beofre the last update.

I'd be grateful for any explanantions of this behaviour and possible solutions if there are any.

Thanks.

Your not alone there i have this too, seems to be caused by a somewhat higher ping to the sim than usual and when you catch up with the ping the sim puts you back in the spot you were supposed to be.

This happens to me too all the time now! Kinda makes me think twice about travelling anywhere cause the bouce can be quite a detour.

I'm on Mac OS client with more than sufficent hardware. Does OS factor in?

Xp also and great hardware, it wasnt an effect i noticed when preview testing, but im guessing if you watch the ping times during these events they will increase, as it seems to be quite far spread its either a sim/client issue or network issue close to linden

So... i've been watching the ping time..normally 190msec........when the problems occur it jumps to 3000msec+. What causes this....is it my laptop and wireless connection.?

Although many people may attribute this to wireless packet loss and you can try it with a direct cable connection if possible i experience this issue on a fully wired 2Mbs dsl system fully wired with cat5 network cable on a 100Mbps network through a router showing no errors internally.

I'm on a direct cable modem.

I run an Alienware computer with xp pro on a Athalon 6500+ 64 bit, dual core Nforce processor, dual nvidia 7800 PCI Express video cards, 2 gigs of ram. (I'm an artist, both 2d and 3d if your wondering why in the world I have this much power).

I still get this problem. I also get an issue where I'll fly and keep going back, flying, going back and not reaching my destination like I am suppose to.

It is a bug, all I can recommend is seeing if you can file a bug report while it is happening. Personally, I can't get the bug report to come up while the issue is in play.

More then likely it has nothing to do with your Personal computer and everything to do with the time dialation problem in the parcels.

From post on the hotline, the time dialation is a problem being looked into. In all essence it should correct the flight dialation problem.

good to hear I'm not the only one. I'm currently flying AWOL in-world, getting very tired of this bug...

Has anyone reported this within Linden forums? I've sent a few notes in via crash reporter.

Oh yea bug reported may times for lots of reasons here, not just the walking but makes building very difficult if not near impossible, when prims on the snap tools even jitter all over the place then snap back to not where you wanted, also texturing larger multiprim objects can cause the textures to cycle through the two textures ie old and new
