AMD Dual Core and Radeon x1600

I'm having sooo many problems with this setup and I can't get anything to work for SL...needless to say ALL OF MY OTHER programs work flawlessly...SL is the only one that doesn't...I'm tired of waiting on emails from Tech Support...I have the latest Drivers, I have the latest everything...

My Avie's head is stuck between his legs half the time...animations aren't working...that's when SL isn't crashing...camera flies by from 2 smins away if i try to look at something 2m infront of me...pie pices stay on the screen after you click em...so does menu options..

HELP!

I've used the latest ATI Catalyst and Now I'm using the latest Omega...they seem to work better...

I put together a spare system over the weekend with a newish Value card from NVidia . . .

CPU: AMD 64 3000 (1.8GHz) Clocked to 2.5GHz
RAM: 1GB DDR400 Dual Channel
Video Card: EVA 7600GS 256MB PCIe
Aluminum Case + 450W PSU
DVD Writer: NEC 16X DVD+- Writer
Hard Disk: Western Digital 80GB SATA II
OS: WIN2000 PRO

The system runs SL rather well, with the CPU running as fast as a 64 3800, with stock cooling and no voltage adjustments yet attempted.

The surprise was the Video Card. Standing on the Island, looking at my house, I got 30-35fps, while turning to the water got me over 70fps.

My impression is that this system is a pretty good "SL Value" configuration, and that the 7600GS is worth every cent of the $110 that newegg asked for it . .

Now thinking of trying the 7600 in my x2 system, to see how it compares with the 7800GT . .

To summarize, I have read that some people have acceptable results with the 1600, but there seems little doubt that NVidia could solve a number of your (SL) problems . . .

AMD Dual Cores not running SL well is a recognized issue.

Several residents have reported success using Win Launcher XP setting it for "1 processor"

Aside from that, SL is a quirky game. Lots of peeps with very good equipment report having problems with SL.

I have a very good custom gaming rig that cuts through ALL OTHER games including the most demanding online games at very high quality settings like butter. I also have an Uber Hi-Speed top-of-the-line cable connection and for me SL runs like crap! Lag/Freezing, and Crashes. Go figure

Ask Torey Linden how she likes her Opteron Powered System . . . . Personally, my own x2 3800/7800GT is the best SL box I ever had, and I have had quite a few . . .

Wondering if it's just the combination of the quirkiness with the AMD Dual Core AND the ATI x1600...some people have told me their Dual Cores work good...some have told me thier x1600 works good...I've been in contact with LL for a week and have tried every possible solution and fix...even going so far as to making the program think i have a dumber video card...I've tried using the programs to single core profile SL...nothing's worked...will wait till the next patch to see if it works any better, another weeks wait...

I run several other programs with graphic intensive codes and several of them are twitch based and in real-time mode with the host servers...still...SL is the ONLY program I have that's glitching and not acting right...

Just wanted to hear from som residents and see if anyone else is having problems with a similar setup...

and NO, i'm not going to buy a nVidia or dumber video card...ROFL...

don't think an nVidia card on my ATI Chipset Motherboard would like each other too well...

As long as the Motherboard has an open PCIe slot, any other PCIe video card should work, irrespective of the MB Chipset.
