So far my system is still showing lots of gray rectangles with white outlines that persist far longer than I like and which to my perception destroys any illusion that I am in a persistent virtual world.
Has the upgrade changed things regarding this problem for people, or not?

I had the loading texture issue temporarily, but it quickly resolved after a minute or two.

I have had this problem so long I am starting to forget that it ever worked any other way.
Do you mean you don't see whole buildings in gray over and over and over, every time you go somewhere new?
Do you not even see them at all? Particles of explosions or such don't show up as gray rectangles at all?
On mine the gray rectangles don't always appear at the correct scale, sometime I see just a gray area or just a white area or an enlarged corner.

The default loading image will be tiled with the same settings that the prim uses, so offsets etc will move it around, for me they usually clear up pretty quickly, except in some places where they can take forever like icedragons playpen (most likely down to server load or usage)

In most places, for a moment at most, and then only if they're using unusually large textures. It's not constant, of course - it seems to be dependant on the sim. I.e., the above-mentioned Ice Dragon's Playpen takes FOREVER (except when it was up on the Siva grid, that was a fun experience...). Neualtenburg takes a fair amount of time since the city uses a lot of large textures.

Could you go up to the Debug menu, select 'Texture Console' and read out something? When the console comes up, read out the numbers after 'GL Tot' and 'MB Bound' whenever you see gray. Thanks.

Also, it'd be great to get a full debug trace. If what you're seeing is due to a less-than-optimal packet retransmission protocol then it may not be hardware related at all (unless you have a flakey router).
