When i click on to sign in. I get as for as Contacting server. then it fades back to the login screen. Can someone help me

Yes, I got in once, early this morning, but haven't been able to log in since; and I've tried over and over again.

Ditto here. Logged in, froze, rebooted, cant log in.

Being trown back to login screen each time it reachs "Contacting user server..."

Came in, had multiple freezes, some of which necessitated rebooting my computer, and now can't get in at all. Gets up to 'contacting user server' and then takes me back to the login screen.

This is the worst implementation of an upgrade I have yet experienced. I would hope that the Lindens would take us back to 1.5 until they are able to solve the problems with the new version.

Can't login this morining. Tried a fresh install, didn't work.
My logs seem to have a lot of this going on.

Me too- just fades to log in screen. Even rebooted my pc. I never thought i would say this, but i miss the "Despite our best efforts...." message. :eek:

I also cannot get in. Remember its the weekend...more people trying to get on...more people who have not been on since the update...I looked at the Linden forums and do not see a response to this. Be nice to hear what is actually going on. I just figure its due to overload on the server.

I cant log in either...this sucks! it goes striaght to contacting user server..then takes you back to the login screen...Also, 1.6 is being really jumpy ...i suggest that they take us back to 1.5 :mad:

your logs and the multiple pings indicate to me the server used for login cannot 'see' the network. major problem which could mean hardware and/or software issues at LL. hopefully, LL will be able to find the problem and fix it soon...

Selador, have you tried disabling local lighting and shadows, as well as media playback? I think something's gone wrong with hardware lighting in this version.

Yes, Turning shadows OFF in preferences has temp fixed the complete freezing problems for me and several others since someone discovered this. There has been almost NO reaction from LL at all on freezing and its not even mentioned in the known 1,6 issue list. The only reaction has been a post message 32 in that thread by James Linden. I was unable to play for more than 50 hours and had no reply from support email, concierge, or in game linden IM ever since problem started. I can play now ONLY cos a player found turning shadows OFF. Anyone getting freezing might try that
