On all occasions now, if I have had an item dropped into my inventory by some kind person (whilst I am not logged on) I get the email message "xxx xxx has offered you inventory in Second Life. Log in to accept or decline the offer".
Upon logon, however, the item has been automatically accepted, I do not get a prompt. And, If I don't know what I was given... see?
thanks - TW

I hadn't been in SL for a few days, but when I checked my e-mail, it said I had an inventory offer. When I logged on to SL, no notice or any other indicators about what I'd received or if I'd received anything at all. I contacted the person who had made the offer, but since a few days had passed, she didn't even remember herself. So, whatever it was (if I'd received anything at all) got lost somewhere in my inventory. Annoying...

this is still an issue. i've been aware of it for a while but i received a Landmark today and it took way too long to figure out what i'd been given. is this expected to be corrected anytime soon?

This appears to be a "change" to 1.6... and it's sucks swamp water.
When a PHOTO or a NOTECARD or a LANDMARK is given to you by another user while you're offline... it automatically goes to your inventory-- whether you want it to or not. Then good luck finding it... because the "you have received inventory" doesn't tell you what KIND of inventory you've received. So you get to go on a goosehunt.
At one time, if you received a new note... it would pop up on your screen when you next logged on. Same for a photo or landmark. Why this was changed is anyone's guess. I'm sure LL has its reasons-- but it sure doesn't seem to help the end users.

Yes - I've had lots of things go into my inventory without a prompt. I kept thinking I hadn't received the... say... snapshot when someone asked if I liked it -- when in fact I had but didn't know. Since my inventory is the digital version of Fibber McGee's closet, things stay well and truly lost.

i get many offerings then later find them like little presents! this can bee fun but is more of a hastle most of the time. on a totaly different and slightly related topic, they need the distance when you have the red line (locator beacon). i might post that last part where a linden will actually read it

what can make it hard is when someone you've never met gives you something and sends no explanation. i can guess why the Landmark was sent, but didn't even know what to look for. and of course there's the griefing side of this (which, given the posts on poor ToS enforcement, doesn't seem worth reporting).

Accepting a drop from someone you don't know is like opening an attachment on spam email. ====
