every time it starts up it pops up the video drivers error, so i decided to see if they updated the drivers, they have and i installed them. After i restarted and everything it still repeats the message.
It's a dell xps 710 i think, and it worked before.
EDIT:
also, i did reinstall the game.

who is they

DELL? who will use old drivers that prove to not be an issue to them
windows update? which are worse than old drivers

or the ppl who made your chip, such as ATI or Nvidia

if you awnsered yes to either 1 or 2 instantly jump to 3 and let us know how that works out

if you did #3 i think we need more details

If it's that bloody white Box about the drivers not being up to date that doesn't fix even if you do update them. Take a look at this the fix I used is at the very bottom of my post that is probably waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to long lol.

Hopefully that should fix you up quicksmart.

Cheers.

Sorry mate don't know what to tell you. I worked on it all day and thats the only solution I could come up with in the end. Have you got the latest drivers? Did you try installing it in a different location. Maybe Just under :\C SecondLife perhaps and not :\C Program Files\Second Life ? Make sure that once you uninstall second life that the folder is gone, if it isn't delete the whole folder and go for another run. Try dowloading a new copy of the client installer and delte the old one. Then go through the process again. If you have Installed new drivers for your Graphics Card. (what type is it by the way) be sure to reboot afterwards so that they take properly. What ever you do be fore packing it in a strating all over again do try the rename just to be on the safe side. Thats about all I can say sorry if i can't be of more help. Do keep us posted though if you find something that works.

Good Luck.

I've seen this error message for two reasons:

1. I installed a new driver without uninstalling the old one first. This can be a right PAIN to fix to LL's satisfaction. I engaged in quite a festival of uninstalling and registry cleaning before getting SL happy.

2. This one is really odd. I had accidently set an OpenGL parameter in my driver wrong! depth-buffer-bit-depth was set to 16, and SL requires 24.

Also, along the lines of other OpenGL settings that cause this error:

From: Farallon Greyskin
OH! That reminds me! I got the error once when I tried setting Extension Limit to On in my video settings. Make sure that is off and make sure Conformant Texture Clamp is set to "Use OpenGL Specification"

Maybe an OpenGL setting in your video cards advanced 3d settings that's doing it...
