Strange window appears when starting up SL...

This has happened to me the past few days, but I get a window appearing with several lines of 'dos jargon' before the main SL client window starts up. The first window remains open throughout the entire playing session, and only closes itself after the SL client window closes.

I've tried removing and reinstalling SL, and I still get this window to appear. Maybe I activated something in my preferences to show this window? Any help will be appreciated. Thank you!

Have you been playing around in the debug menus? (client and server menus). If so, you probably enabled a function to show the console. I'm not sure of the name of the choice, but look for "show console" and uncheck it.

Johan is correct. If you don't see the Client and Server menus at the top of the screen, hold down ctrl+alt+d to enable them. Then click Client, scroll down to Console Menu (fourth option from the bottom) and uncheck it.
