System:

Dell Pent4 2.8
1 gig of ram
Geforce FX 5200 256megs (driver 3-9-06)
Comcast cable connection.

CPU Usage: 100%
Commit Charge 572/2421m

Issue:

For the last couple weeks, when I start SL, it doesn't take long and SL is using 99-100 % of cpu. This causes Netscape to crash when opened and I will start to fall through my store floors.

I am not sure what is going on. I can play but its starting to be annoying falling through my floors.

Any Ideas...Thanks.

Second life uses most of your CPU unless your using a duel core.

Maybe try setting the priority of SecondLife a bit lower? That might reduce the cpu load, tho it might also make it run slower.

SL will always use 100% of what it can get, not a clue whats it doing with it cause if you start something its not dragging the performance down much, as opposed to a game that use 100% cpu and then you start something it will be painfully slow.

on a dual core it will show 50%

100 on one core (is 50% of total)
or
50/50 two cores

beats me why it dont use 100% on both cores for tho.
