Hello all, I am currently running on very little ram in todays world and am wondering if I get a new stick how much it would truely help my performance, here is my computers stats!
AMD 1.3GHZ processor Radeon 9600pro (256MB ram) 256MB memory (yikes am I rite) ~300GB hard drive space
I am holding off on upgrading my whole computer currently as I am moving over to the world of console gaming I'm afraid but would still like to enjoy SL a little better, was thinking of maybe getting another 256 and am wanting to know how much it will help.

hi slick, it may be a good idea to upgrade your ram,not sure how many memory slots you have on your motherboard, but if you want increased performance id suggest 2-512mb ddr PC3200 400mhz ,or just i gig (1024) ram of the same..im running the amd64 with an 80 gig hd 2.5gigs of ram with a geforce 6800extreme 512mb card..secondlife runs great..

It will help a lot. I'm sure you notice SL taking loong breaks now, Harddisk grinding like crazy - the Windows swapfile in Action. I run SL on 512 MB and its still not enough. Players with 1024 MB (1GB) are quite satisfied AFAIK. My Personal Record of SL Memory usage was a whopping 1.5 GB - but i assume that was due to a Bug / Memory Leak, its way too much. So the short Answer : 256 MB = bad, 512 = better, 1GB = good, 2 GB = enough
