You might wanna upgrade to the latest version of Quicktime.

Also, in the Audio/Movie tab, make sure you have the data rate set to 128kbps or more, 32kbps has limited bandwidth to produce the correct mhz rating required to support more than one channel (mono). SL supports 44,100hz frequency, some broadcasts are 41,000.

As above, update Quicktime to 7.1

Could that be why my @Home flatscreen tv isn't working??

Doubtful Mandy, unless you are refering to the sound.. the download rate bit is for music only, it has no effect on the quality of TV/Movie pictures... unless the movie/TV programme is set to priorities the music quality over picture rates. You can adjust your Network Bandwidth to 2/3rd's of your connection speed (upto a maximum of 1.5mbps) and allocate as much free and defraged hard disc space to can afford, to help get good reception.

TV/Movie is related to UpdateImage, you can find this by pressing Ctrl+Shift+9, there are nested feature/pipelines that have everything to do with what you client is doing at anytime. There are many other reporting graphs/statistics you can view CTRL+SHIFT+2, 3 and 4 all provide client and server input information. Pressing the key combinations again will clear each screen :) . I use these graphs to assess the impact/load our movies make within a sim/parcel we are asked to install a system into. For the most part, many owners are unaware of the loadings already existing in a sim.

For the most part, the client throttles the bandwidth itself, but setting it too small can cause bottlenecks. What I see more and more, is textures not found, corrupted or a massive native size (kb's) yet small in resolution being used in some areas of SL. This is one of the biggest causes of lag in some sims, along with buried and uneccessary use of scripts. Switch on 'View - Beacons - Scripts and Active Objects' and see how many you are surrounded by!
