I've come home for the spring break holiday from school, I have DSL, and SL runs very choppy. I tried it on my friends SL connection and the game runs fine, run fines at school, but here everything's delay by over a second, and when i stop pushing directional speeds i keep moving in the same direction for a few seconds. Anyone have any tips, maybe somehow I need to tweak the connection? The game's practically unplayable

Aw Enger, that sounds sucky. Sounds to me like you have some sort of really bad lag. Can you please give more details about your computer configuration? Also, are you on a wireless network, use a firewall, and have you had any other Internet connection problems at home? For example, other online games running slowly for you, or web pages taking a long time to load. Please provide more info and we'll hope to help ya out.

Im running 2.4GHz 1gig of ram nvidia gforceFX 5200, everything else seems to be running fine, uncluding other games and websites are loading fine...i know some about compuyers but this is just blowing my mind as to what it could be since its so odd... SBC is the proivder.. i went to dsl reports and ran a test, im not sure what SBC advertises (also since i rarely am home) as their speed to know wether it's at what it should be, anyone know what the avg DSL speed is?

I'm not familiar with SBC, but in SL, if you press Alt-1, you can activate a status display that will show you a lot of info you can use to help you diagnose problems. For example, look at your bandwidth and compare that to what you're getting at your friend's house and at school. And especially, look at Packet Loss and Ping times. If you've got extraordinarily high numbers in those, then something is definitely up. :|

Yeah, that's what I suspected. Ping may be indicative of problems with your ISP -- I recommend you contact them to see if they've had any reports or problems lately. Hopefully we can get some variables eliminated... that's horrible ping time!
