Dear all,

I would like to know your experience on running SL on a widescreen monitor. Does this work well? Thanks for your feedback.

Seems to work fine on my 22" wide screen. Aspect ratio is 16:9, resolution in 1680x1050. In fact, there is an auto-detection feature in Second Life which, after using, conformed itself to my monitor's native resolution.

I got a nice 22.6” Samsung that I love, especially now with the bulky Communication window. I couldn’t imagine trying to use that behemoth on anything other then a wide screen.
See that? See how I snuck in a quick LL jab there?
/cracks me self up.
Oh…sometimes though I feel like I’m missing things that happen above my position because I pick up so much on what’s happening to my left and right. Like peering through a wide slot…you know?

I wonder how people manage to get a real widescreen image from SL. I have a widescreen monitor, a nVidia 7600GT with the latest driver, graphics set to 16:9 widescreen ... but what I get is not a real widescreen image, but what's called a "smart zoomed" image on 16:9 tv sets when they have to display a 4:3 image. That is, the image content is the same as the 4:3 image, the center is relatively distortion-free, but toward the left and right the image gets increasingly stretched toward the corners ... like a fish bowl effect. Isn't there any way to get a full, distortion-free 16:9 image in SL?

I have a widescreen and love it ......... amazing now that I even questioned it at the time I bought it.

Of course I have ONLY ever played SL on widescreen, so dont know the difference as far as that is concerned.

But what I love about it is my ability to multi-taks with it. For example, I am a HUGE fan of the show Big Brother and during the season, I can run SL, then two windows of Big Brother live feeds and see it all on the screen at the same time.

Wide Screen

Works fine here on my 20" wide screen. Aspect ratio of 16:9, with a resolution of 1680x1050 makes everything look normal.

I've found it best to run SL in a window, but maximized. that seems to stretch the scene correctly for me. :)

Works great with my 37" widescreen 1080p LCD. If there is distortion, it isn't enough for me to notice. I usually run it in a window so that might be the way to go.
