This has been happening for about a month now... for some reason on my machine with an Nvidia 7900 GT and AMD dual core 4600 anywhere I move the mouse or type in secondlife the screen jitters right around the area where the mouse cursor is for about an inch or so in all directions. I have tried new Nvidia drivers.. beta nvidia drivers.. CPU optimization drivers.. nothing helps.. I have reloaded SL so the graphic settings became all default.. still with this problem.. Its more of an irritation than anything.. Anyone have the same issue and know a fix.?

you have to set affinity of second life so it runs on only one core.

Setting affinity doesnt appear to have any bearing on this particular problem... when I set affinity the flickering in the 1 inch square around my mouse cursor is still there.

Sorry to revive such an old post, but I've just started playing Second Life myself, and I am having the same issue on my computer with an nVidia 7600 GT and an athlon xp 4200 dual core. I also tried all different kinds of drivers and display settings but the flashing box thing is still there, and still quite annoying. Oh, and changing the affinity did nothing for me either. What is particularly strange is that it now does this every time I start up the game without fail, but there have been a few times in the past when the game ran perfectly. Once the problem disappeared after rolling back my video drivers, but only the first time I ran the game afterwards. Since then the problem has been constant.

Anyway if there is any help at all out there for this it would be much appreciated. If nothing else it is really distracting. Thanks in advance.

You now longer need to turn off cores with the release of the first look client.

Ok, but as we've said affinity seems to have nothing to do with this particular problem. Thanks for the info (I haven't had any problems with SL without messing with affinity so I had assumed it was a non-issue now) but I still would appreciate help with the display problem. Thanks.

same issue

Ok a little more process of elimination of the issue i know it's not a dual core issue because i am running a 7900gtx board with a single core p4 i as well updated my graphics drivers and restarted rand different resolutions and full screen as well as windowed modes. If anyone has any input it could help me find a solution as well.

Seems to me we have same boards and different cloak speeds only so it most likely is a graphics driver issue.

alright i got a answer for you it worked for me but the easiest way to fix the problem is go into nView properties and disable nView Desktop Manager. This worked for me i am sure you can use the wizard to disable the specific part that was bugging out the game but this is lazy way. Either way hope it works for you like it did for me.
