Entry Point Not Found

Each time I try to start SL I get the error message:

SecondLife.exe - Entry Point Not Found
The procedure entry point GETRAWINPUTDEVICEINFOW could not be located in the dynamic link libraqry USER32.dll.

I've tried several things to fix the issue: Updating drivers, downloading windows service packs, i've even redownloaded USER32.dll.

I can't access the test log for SL because I don't think it even gets far enough to generate it.

Anyone got any ideas please? It's a work laptop, and I'd like to be able to log on while on the road. Old Dell Latitude. I'm pretty sure I pass all system requirements.

Thanks
Ed

Tiberius, what OS is installed? According to the Microsoft Developer's Library, GetRawInputDeviceInfo is only available in Windows XP and .Net Server.
Windows 95, 98 and ME do not support this call, and therefore probably not SL.

Sorry, you appear to be out of luck.
I forgot to add NT and 2000 along with 95, 98 and ME.
Any chance of having the OS upgraded?

Sure, you think XP would cut the mustard then?

Sounds like you have the wrong version of a driver installed on your system. SL runs under 2k pro service pack 4 (thats what i'm running). Make sure you have the windows 2k version of all your drivers installed.

I've had no problems. But when the client crashes i get a bad entry point error on a driver for a network adapter that MS screwed up.

hmmmmmmmm, interesting. Strife, what is the file date and version of your USER32.DLL? A driver install shouldn't change it, but maybe it's SP4 as you mentioned or something like the .NET framework or DirectX?

yeah, i found a post that led me to think SP4 would solve the problem. But unfortunately I downloaded it and I'm still having the problems.

Help Please?

I've been having the same problem. Ever find a solution?
Here's a list of what I've tried, and just general changes to my system.
Upgrade processor to AMD XP2600+ from Athalon 1100
Install 1 gig Ram and 250 gig SATA drive
Clean Reload W2k
Install Gforce FX 6200 video card
Reload Direct X
I have not found a User32.dll that's even close in size so I haven't replaced mine.
Mine is 422kb the replacement is old and only 40kb.

I've never gotten off Intro-Island!
It was so slow I upgraded, and I haven't been on since.

I really would like to give this SL a try.

Any help?
