I have 2, 40 GB, 7200 RPM Drives. Is it possible to have SL store the cache it downloads on on a different drive, than the drive that SL is installed on? I think that if the load was transfered to a seperate individual drive that there wouldn't be so much paging.
C:\Documents and Settings\<USER>a\Application Data\SecondLife\cache
is the folder it is currently stored in. I want it to store data on my D: Drive.

No, not easily. There's some pretty sketchy-sounding instructions for relocating the entire 'Documents and Settings' directory tree somewhere on Microsoft's site, but it's not something I'd personally advise. I can look it up if you're interested in trying that.
Further, unless your two drives are on seperate IDE channels, you're not going to find much of an improvement. Out of curiousity, how much RAM do you have?
Edit: To clarify, I should say that there's likely to be virtually no improvement whatsoever, even if your drives are on differnt channels.

WRONG you can if your system supports reparse points (junctions). Most modern disk formats support them (read NTFS). If you are running SL on an up to date version of 2k or any version of XP you can use reparse points to map your cache to anywhere. A reparse point is a link the file system handles as if it is a folder. This link is totaly transparent to applications unless they explicitly ask the file system. Applications for making reparse points (free of course ) WinLinks (no website anymore they ceased to exist, download is from Internet Archive, interestingly if you browse the Archive on thirty4.com you will find office photo's of LindenLabs; small world) NTFSLink (no website anymore) Junction (this is produced by SysInternals)

Wow, those are cool offices! It's wierd to see offices in a sunny place. In Europe, offices tend to be in London and Paris, which are always cold and rainy It's almost tempting to have to live in the States Azelda

I was very amazed at how nice SF was when i went out there (even the hobo's have bicyles). Even though those pictures are a bit old, they are about what LL looked like when I was there in September (have family in SF)
