Standard Windows cut-n-paste keyboard shortcuts do seem to work between SL and other applications, at least on my machine. If you're unfamiliar with them, they are: CTRL-X - Cut CTRL-C - Copy CTRL-V - Paste and CTRL-Z - Undo.

Works great too, although for some reason Notepad on pasting to the SL notecard loves to add the # in some sentances. So be sure to clean your text before you pass it on, or before you cut and paste into chat.
I do all my Jeopardy answers in Notepad, then paste to SL notecard which is then cut and pasted to chat during the event. It is a real lifesaver.

Yup...
The entire database for the Iraqi War Memorial is built by grabbing some HTML from a website, pasting it into a spreadsheet, doing some massaging, exporting to a .txt file, and then copy/paste-ing into SL notecards.
Just beware that there is a limit on the size of a notecard, so if you want the Encyclopedia Brittanica in there or something, you're going to have to partitition it all into about a gazillion small pieces.
But hey... at least it doesn't cost you L$10 to upload that content.

On a slightly unrelated note:
About how much text can a notecard hold. I know it's something like 64kb, but other than going to windows Notepad and typing/saving/typing/saving until I hit that 64kb mark, I've no clue. I figure it might be 8000 characters since 64kb/8b is 8000, but I'm not sure if that's a correct method.

If copy and paste doesnt work to SL, check whether it works outside of SL first. There is a virus that copies "Hello!" into the Clipboard approximately once a second, which would made copy and paste a little tricky Azelda
