Yes, that is it for me. I am fed up with Second Life.
Main reasons:
1. It crashes like hell with my Vista 64-bit and stability seems to be decreasing with every new client. I do not see why I should be running second computer with windows XP just for Second Life especially considering that my other programs do not crash. 2. Major packet loss. Yes, I have a major packet loss which only happens in Second Life. Because of that everything lags and I cannot be sure if item I bought will be delivered to me or lost to timeout/lag. 3. LL is using its time to wrong parts of SL. Who cares a damn about voice when client itself is buggy as anthill. People are complaining about major things like inventory loss and LL adds new buggy features like voice. Way to go... NOT.
I do not see any reasons to continue using SL unless LL makes major improvements to it.

I'm fed up with Vista, looking all important but not being retro compatible, staying with my tried & true XP thx till they fix it. I don't see why I should have to have a machine just running Vista for Email and another for playing all my favorite games...........

Why use Windows 64-bit when Second Life is 32-bit? There's no performance gain, hardware driver support is "iffy", and the lack of 64-bit software is.... well, I can't think of any.
Maybe someday Microsoft will pull an Apple-type move & announce that all our software is useless now due to everything being 64-bit and we must buy it all over again?
Although, from some tech articles I've read about gaming performance, 64-bit may not happen for some things like games due to some coding issues.

I agree with you on that one. I have experiences repetitive crashed those days. And have no idea why a "better" computer runs SL more slowly than my old PC... They should fix the old problems - like my hair and shoes getting in my ass when I teleport... This pisses me off good time ))

Anyway, I have lots of 32-bit software that runs perfectly fine with 64-bit Vista. Second Life does not and I am not going to keep running second computer just for one program. Packet loss happens no matter what OS or ISP you use here, so even if I would do complete reinstall that would still be left.

<- runs vista 64bit ultimate without crashing SL,as usual "your milage may vary" works here, Kitti Vella you are not a Ati vid card by any chance?, ati-sl-vista does not go well togeather. Driver support on vista 64bit is way better then it was at xp 64bit ,wich is just horrible , you shouldnt have any trouble finding drivers really. 64bit why?, cause i want to use my full ram not being limited by 32bit ~ 3.2-3.75gig ram, and i will up it to 8 after awhile (ram is cheap anyhoo) Yes i have a ok pc i guess. c2d6850 4gig ddr2/800mhz 8800gt 640mb hds 1350gig ish vista ultimate 64bit 27" 1920x1200 Right now SL is crap as hell, but whats new there, this is the worst week i seen it in as i can remember ~.~, None of the games i play or programs i use have issue with 64bit either, and was hoping to get hold of aoc 64bit beta client & directx10 , fat chance as they delayed it again -__- first mmorpg i know of that has a native 64bit client \o/, eeh well guess ill play lotro some more >.<

not to mention the bug which cause you to be randomly semi ruthed (correct facial features but a lot shorter and with no torso muscles) on other peoples screens while you look ok on yours 20 percent of the time you meet someone.
This is a major long term bug, that most people are unaware of since it only happens on the screens of people watching you. It has been reported so many times for like over a year and I don't think Linden has even officially acknowledged that it exists.
Ok, so gambling is forbidden, you get a random semi ruthed look on other peoples screens that you are unaware of 20 percent of the time, things just vanish from your inventory and everything is just laggy and bugged in general. I sometimes wonder why anyone bothers anymore? Second Life is like a in a constant beta test... or alpha even.
I sometimes login to see if things has improved because I would actually love to play SL if it worked.... sadly though it does not. It's worse than ever.

Other than logging in on another totally different machine to see how you really look, I wonder if clearing the cache and logging i will allow you to see if your shape is messed up? I never tried it. I ask my friends to send me screeenshots and I look okay. Just I am losing some inventory items, and someone MUST PAY!

Yes, like I have said in other threads I use Radeon X1950 pro and it seems that ATI OGL drivers totally suck in Vista. In XP ATI works (slowly, but anyway), in Vista SL crashes under 5 minutes in most cases. I complained to ATI about their OGL vista drivers, but as far as I know nothing has happened and I have not got any answer. As ATI works nicely with all other programs I use, I do not have plans to change my video card atm. and thus it seems that SL is out of the question too.

Also, before going on your anti Sl tirade about how LL should better spend thier time fixing issues (which they are in fact currently working on) you may want to read the countless previous threads started just like yours. The Voice feature was OUTSOURCED....this means LL spent no time working on this, but instead spends thier time working on the very issues you spoke of. Also, if you have been using SL for any amount of time, you will find that ATI + SL + any Windows OS is just not a good combo. This goes the same for quite a few games out there, so please do not act as if SL is the only single game out there that has this issue either. A high percentage of the current games on the market today are created with the nvidia card in mind.
This thread was created like countless others to incite a anti SL flame instead of an actual tech support question. Moderator, please lock it like all the previous ones should be.

For all those that rushed out and purchased/installed Vista... you are granted the privelige to handover control of your system to HollyWood. Also you are a beta tester all over again for Microsoft. XP is being supported until 2010.. maybe by then, after service pack 15 for Vista has expired, I might reliquish control of my PC to HollyWood then, and only then, if Vista has improved dramically. I installed Vista the day it was launched (32 and 64 bit versions), It immediately downloaded over 3 GB's of 'updates'... this was over 5 years in development, thank god they didn't write the space missions software, getting 'updates' whilst on route to the moon, may have seen Apollo 11 as the last mission. The OS for the moon missions was run on a 512kb ram, 286 btw. Vista typifies HollyWood, show enough glitz and glammour and that will appease the masses. I will not install a OS onto my system that shuts down my soundboard on the basis it didn't recognise my earphones as being 'compatible' and that I should demand a compatible set of earphones, or at least a 'driver' from the manufacturers, that is!!! Eh? If you want to run an unstable platform such as SL on your system, at least choose a OS that is perhaps more stable to begin with... BTW, I have a great windsheild (windscreen) ice scraper for sale, that looks very much like a Vista installation disc.... any offers?
