Hello. I sent this question to the support email as well.

You changed all passwords just minutes ago.

I can't access my account, Cinos Field, nor remember the security question.

What do I do? I can provide any other information, including billing address, name and such, if necessary.

And isn't me being here proof enough?

I too have this Security Question issue... As far as i remember there was never a section asking for security question answer. I have 2 accounts one is prem and other one is basic and my basic one i JUST signed up for 4 days ago and there was NEVER EVER a security question section.

I think it stinks that they are only taking stuff by email and not over the phone and we shouldnt have to wait THREE extra days or so to get our password sorted out.

Me and a few of my friends are being asked security questions that we know we didn't pick. So therefore cannot answer them either. ARGH.

I am right there with you everyone! I seriously don't recall entering a security question. It sure is frustrating when it asks me where I was born and I answer it and it rejects me... They obviously know me more than I do apparently.

I had this problem earlier as well and had to go back through the process to see the security question. It's a drop down menu of 5 questions and you pick the one you want to answer. Maybe more than 5 maybe less. Not sure. Some were, your fave book, street you grew up on, mother's maiden name and birthplace or pet's name. Perhaps you choose one question, but gave the answer to another. So...trying resetting it to send you the link again and just answer them once more and see what happens.

My thoughts, Lindens should have given us all the chance to change our OWN passwords before arbitrarily doing so without notice. Would have been much easier had they sent an email or something IN WORLD, than this...and then to not answer phone inquiries until Monday? Well...

I sure hope they shit can the brainiac that decided to change everyones damn passwords without any warning. I honestly think it should be illeagl to change someones private passwords without consent. Not only that but to do it on a FRIDAY when there is limited staff to correct the fuck up that is sure to follow. Now people allot of paying people, myself included have to wait till Monday to get access to our accounts and go through probably a bunch of bullshit just to get it back. I am still fighting with the reason WHY I pay these clowns for a premium account when I seem to get less then basic service. OH yeah the tech email, their answer to everything, the dipshits forgot that in order for you to read how to solve your probablm you have to log in with your password, OMG the password they made obsolite. Come Monday Second Life might have quite a bit fewer members after this ordeal.

I had the same problem
I specifically remember choosing the "city you were born in" question for security. When i went to change the password it asked me the "street you grew up on" one. I figure the thing screwed up and is asking the default first question on the list.

I KNOW I didnt pick that one, i have no answer for it either. SO now it's telling me I pretty much can't use my account until i can call somebody NEXT WEEK.

Thankfully, you can rerequest the email for a password change link to retry your answer over and over. Maybe it reset the question while i was filling it out and i used an answer for something else like was suggested.

I lost my account Raizack Karlfeldt (my premium account) due to the email i used to register him no longer existing. So now i have to wait till monday to find out if i can salvage the account or not.

I hope they get rid of the idiot that decided to reset everyones passwords too. Second life is run like a business so it should be treated as such and at this moment they're supplying us customers with little courtesy and respect and offering us lousy service and support.

Not even banks would do something so underhanded and leave people high and dry like this in a similar situation. When my Oldnational bank was hacked, they asked people to redo their passwords, not just do it and let them find out about it whenever they happened to log in.

I hope a linden happens to read this because most likely on monday i'll be canceling my premium membership since they're not providing us premium members with any support for this matter.

1. So, you'd rather wake up monday with all your money missing as well as SLExchange Bigwig to have the potentially millions of L$ dissapear in a few minutes, just because you think your password is worth something?

2. I'm a Linux System Administrator, which is the same thing the LL people are, due to the grid running Debian Linux. Common practice is to invalidate all passwords after a breakin, to prevent the folk who broke into the database from using anything they got to further infiltrate a system/network.

3. If they got our passwords, they got the linden's passwords as well. If they're malicious enough to steal this data, they're malicious enough to log in as a linden, and run around glefully using the god menu's Delete object button, and drag selecting everything in sight.

And you want to give them three days to run around with all this?

So, let me get this straight, you want to PAY them to be lax on security, let people break in, steal/corrupt data, and sit around listening to us all bitch and moan as they run rampant?

No, you pay them to keep the @$@#$@% world secure.

My friend pressed the button and got the email to change his password, he tried 5 times and couldn't get it right coz he couldn't remember what answer he put when he registered, then it shut down by itself! He has 1 yr premium membership and has spent hundreds on this account. What can he do now??????

I am just as upset as some of you are. I'm not sure what happened when I set up my account. I have a habit of always choosing the "mothers maiden name" option, but I'm not sure what I chose. I do remember having the problem of typing in my answer and the quesiton changing, like someone wrote about before me in this thread, but I don't remember if I tried to fix it or what I did.

I'm pretty much frozen from my account until the Lindens open the phones or answer my e-mail. I'm sure their swamped, and I feel for them, but this really bites for us. Hopefully, with so many of us having the problem we will get something done about it quickly.
