hi there and thanks for reading this Okay here goes...
Firstly i was on SL when they deactivated the logins, so was inworld milling around building, then i logged out. When i logged back in my shape had changed and my eyes had turned almost black, i was also naked *blushes*
So im thinking hey thats odd, and go into my inventory to change my shape and eyes, where i discover when i try to edit them i get a wee pop up saying "appearance can't be changed until clothing and shape have been downloaded. I think 'hmmmmmm glitch?' So i log out and log back....no change......i seek help from friends inworld and the say to try in other regions, especially LL run server ones. So i try it and over the past 4 days have tried in about 20 different places, and nothing.
I decide it cant hurt to uninstall and download sl again, try it....nothing...no change....i cant wear clothes (other than onject attachments) i cant wear shapes, eyes, skins, nothing. Being an escort in SL 5 days of this is affecting me quite a bit, not to mention i look rather unlike myself.
Being a paying customer i submit a support ticket, the reply? "try logging in in a different region" i swear i could have kicked some ass by this point if it werent just my laptop in front of me. Ive also rebaked, cleared cache, went to help island (none of them could help either)
So all in all my Av is f****d and theres nothing i can do about it, LL arent doing a job lot to help, im stressed and annoyed and contemplating cancelling my premium account, i thought the point of paying was to get more help when required.
I need help!! please if anyone can shed light on my situation please please do, im almost at the end of my tether, its sunday and ive been like this since tuesday, a day or 2 fair enough but almost a week? Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
(sorry if i sound like a whiney bi-atch, im normally a very happy young lady.....)

It's sad to hear. I hope they fix this and restore all lost inventory or BURN. I don't understand why they don't have backups of this stuff. They should be honest and put on the front page or in the sign up page that you'll most likely lose items=real money, and we at Linden Labs just don't care. Join at your own risk. Sure they "fix" it then add some new feature, I'm sure when they add the next new one this will all repeat again. They should restore lost inventory though, this is real money being lost.

Its true, this is a typically sad state of current (the past 3 years to my knowledge) affair. Personally, perhaps through experience, I don't jump the gun and start installing new copies of SL, I go and look at the Grid Status page, and the Blogs, to see if there is any signs of an issue, then if there is nothing there, I wait at least a day before carrying out such drastic measures. Some seem to think we are on an aeroplane over the Atlantic of something, making a rush for the door, or assuming the worst everytime the drinks trolly/cart is late coming round. SL uses the internet as its sole connection between its server farm and users. Not the most stable of platforms, nor is your system, nor is the servers/coding (which can be best described at beta stage still). My advice, don't panic... if things are still bad 24 hours later, and no blogs etc confirming some issue/action taking place, then, do what you did.

Your problem is region specific- probably related to what was discussed on the blog just recently. (Or maybe not, Concierge didn't offer answers to why when they were contacted) Unfortunately I had to turn off public access to our sandbox because whenever you logged into that region you were Ruth and had no access to anything in inventory. If you rezzed an item from your inventory and it was no copy it was gone. However TPing to another region kept you ruthed yet your inventory came back.
Logging into another region that was ok would get you normal w/ inventory, the minute you TPed to our defective region you would lose access to your inventory again.
Long story short- it was like that all day 8/19 and half a day 8/18. The Linden answer of "log into another region" is an appropriate workaround but it took me a few 'known regions' to find one that wasn't broken like my Home. I feel ya, and if I hadn't had 'experience' in SL (and my day job helps understand SL problems too) I'd have flipped out over the recent issues. If you need a place to call Home for the duration of these issues please IM me. One piece of my land is safe from the issues (or so it was yesterday, cannot say for sure today).

Ergh, I've been getting the same thing! And I know damn well its not region specific, I tried relogging in many many many different regions. I tried absolutely everything to fix it, and nothing, now I have to wait on the damn lindens to fix it, IF they ever do, wich I doubt will be any time soon in truth =/

For those that do not have 'history' in SL over the past years, probably haven't realised yet... what you are experiencing is simply another wave of updates being installed onto the sim servers. Whenever that happens, they effectively reduce the network capacity in certain areas that they are working on whilst they tinker. As you can see on the Blogs today, that this is a true statement. Downtime expected Wednesday, with a series of rolling restarts afterwards. None of which is new, so don't panic... my advice is simply don't make any important transactions/builds/trading until at least 24 hours after it's complete when the code migrates to all systems and it is 'stable' again.

Okay firstly i didnt "rush out" and do "drastic" things, i wait 4 DAYS of having a stupid av before doing anything, it was most definately not region specific and thank fully i now have it fixed. And no it was not as simple as logging into a new region or waiting for it to fix. Thankfully a resident read this and contacted me inworld. he got me to run a cmd code on my laptop and restart SL and THAT worked. If he could tell me that i dont see why LL could only suggest to log into another region. 5 days of being like that when all it needed was a wee code *shakes head*
