Are there chat logs created of the IM's you have? If so where are they located?

Thanks, Trisha

IM Log

I would like to know the answer to this too. They way I do it now, is to highlight the conversation after it's over, go to my mail sending service, paste the conversation and print it. Whew!
If there was an easier way to see what you have said, I would be interested to know, too.

No SL does not save any chat logs of any kind. Unless you get an IM while offline, that could be loosely considered a "log".

But this is a feature I'd love for them to add, both IM logging and general chat loging, its kinda insane that it isn't already a feature when most anything that you chat on allows you to save logs.

WOW, I am stunned that their is not a logging of chat going on somewhere. I thought maybe I was just missing it in a folder somewhere.

Yea that is a feature they really should implement. At least let you implement it locally so you can save the chats to your local system even if they don't want to take up server space for them.

/shrug oh well such is live I will just have to start copying and pasting the interesting convo's I guess to notecards LOL.

Thanks, Trisha

You can be sure every chat is being logged, just not on the client side.

Linden Labs probably has a legal responsibility (being a US company) to capture, log and store every single Chat and IM conversation that happens using their client through their grid, in case the Department of Homeland Security or other legal (or illegal, as is the case in present times) laws are passed that require providing it upon request to the courts.

Not letting clients log chats, is taking away our ability to defend ourselves against false claims of abuse or illegal activity on the SL servers.

And what happens when your SL client crashes in the middle of a conversation that has been going on for over an hour? Where do you restore the conversation? Where do you find the context for the whole chat session?
