installing SL on a RAMdisk, will the SL cache be located on same RAMdisk? Anyone?

I can't find any way to choose where I want the SL cache to be located.

Is there anyone running SL on a RAMdisk here?
Tricks and tips please? Suggestions?

I doubt it'll help speed up SL. SL I belive will use it's own RAM cache first, shoving little-used and old stuff to HD cache. Cramping the RAM cache with a RAM disk will only hurt.

The only way putting the HD cache in RAM would be faster is if you're running the Linux Alpha at this time.

After installing SL on a ramdisk, I noticed an improvement in viewer FPS. I'm an avid flyer in SL and running SL off the ramdisk, my FPS does not get below 10. Draw range set at 128m. I get an average 15 in very busy sims. I got about 5-10 FPS more than before, using the same settings.

The menus open faster too.

Thank you Sue! that was very helpful, I installed the ramdisk as per the instructions and it ran smoothly. Had about 25% increase in FPS. Only problem, my PC has 2GB DDR ram, and setting the ramdisk as high as possible (992MB) slowed down my PC when not running SL. So it looks like I'll be doubling my ram again soon...
