Hello all, I was hoping that some of you might be able to give me some feedback on a couple articles I ran across. Anyone having issues?

Where are my NVIDIA Drivers for Vista?

"NVIDIA not being ready for DX10, Vista, and SLI is a low blow to enthusiasts and gamers that spend the big bucks, and they will remember that for a while

“World-class support” should be a minimum expectation, not just a marketing tag line

Logitech, Creative, NVIDIA driver disgrace

"Guess that Vista upgrade is just going to have to wait -- either that, or I upgrade my hardware to something compatible and vow never to buy Logitech, Creative or NVIDIA ever again!"

Does anything use dx10 yet?, only see things that are comming but i dont really think it will be much of a big deal 'till least end of 2007.

Least i wont bother with dx10 cards till 2008.

well by 2008 I guess the hardware will be ready to better do away with the 10% performance loss windows vista might well bring ;)

You won't be bothering with Vista either if you have a G80 card. That's what the whole issue is about.

They bring a card to market bragging about all the stuff it will do. Then, when that stuff gets here we find out they we wrong and it doesn't do any of that stuff.

The 10% performance loss is only felt by nVidiot users. In fact, when using two cards in CrossFire mode there have even been INCREASES in performance compared to XP. Single cards show a 2% or less

Weigh that against the number of people that own nVidiot cards around here and I think there is something to talk about.

Speaking from my experience with Vista, though I have an ATI, it does downgrade performance for me. I play America's Army, and my framerate has suffered signifigantly. Could just have something to do with Vista requiring more CPU than XP. I think CPU and memory are going to be the area that most people are going to be hurting at.

nVidiot? Wow... a real life video card fanboy.

Amusing. A bit sad, but amusing.

Just a little friendly rivalry. Kind of like how the Colts are going to destroy the Bears this weekend.

Why is it ok for me to be a Colts fan but not an ATI fan?

By supporting the Colts, you didn't come up with your own clever knockoff Bears nickname... that's the difference.

Don't worry, I roll my eyes at the people who use "Micro$oft" also.

being an OpenGL partisan i would say i do not expect that much from DirectX10, excepted yet another attempt from Microsoft to kill OpenGL on the Windows platform.

Considering both Graphic libraries can roughly do the same kind of things i am always surprised about all the noise around DirectX 's "new features"

Let's not forget among the various companies that direct the OpenGL standard there is actually Microsoft -_-

Embrace extend extinguish anyone?

Actually... ATI is the one having problems designing their drivers as it seems. Everything's pretty much okay under windows (more or less), but Linux? Why does that seem to be such a problem for ATI....
I use both brands and must say, the differences between the two are rather low.

Well apart from that: Yeah sure. With two cards in crossfire mode. Okay, maybe I'm not the right kind of person for that, but: 2 graphics cards. A mainboard which has two PCIe slots for them. Both cost some money, in case your really want something out of your cards, well... it can cost quite a lot of money.
Let's not talk about power consumption and noise (or measures to prevent noise)

Sure, you might actually have scenarios in which there is a performance increase with Vista. If it were all bad, there'd be no chance to sell it. But I won't use it, because my hardware will not perform better with Vista and Vista takes more resources than XP.
Again: I don't say it's all bad. Just for the most already existing and not top-notch hardware it can prove to be a problem.

Vista hogs memory like there's no tomorrow. So, if you don't have at least 1.5gb of ram (I recommend 2gb), then Vista is just going to make you swap more and your performance will suffer because of that. Not to mention, it hogs the CPU randomly.

W/ a computer specced for Vista, Vista is a very nice improvement over XP in my opinion. Plus, it's much nicer to develop on.
