SL Keep Crashing

I keep having a problem with SL crashing. At times, I will get a blue screen and the computer will reboot. At other times, i will just crash to the desktop. Originally, updating my graphics drivers fixed this problem. However, this is no longer the case.

I am running:
AMD 64 4000+
Nvidia 6800GT with latest drivers
2GB of RAM

I have checked my resource usage and SL does not use nearly my max. I have tried changing drivers several times and this does not solve the problem. My graphics card does run a little hot between 62-64C but that is not unusual for this card. It hits about 70C on load. However, I would like to point out that I game a lot on my machine. I have no trouble with any other games or applications. The crashing is sparodic. It happens at random times.

Heat may be a problem...but I am uncertain. As I said, I don't crash with any other games or apps and XP has never given me a blue screen until SL

Can anyone lend me a hand?

Well, it looks like no one can help solve my problem.

I loaded up the game in Linux last night and everything ran fine. The only trouble is that I can't watch video in game. I believe that is a problem with the current alpha for linux.

Anyway, I will be playing SL on the back of the penguin from now on.

I use SL in a Dell laptop, and I have bene running it fine for months, even with photoshop CS, FireFox and MSN open, recently though this is not the case.

I can't even run SL with one FireFox window open, images on the pages I veiw turn yellow and distorted. Sometimes though, my desktop freezes up, and then the screen goes totally white and the laptop stays like this until I turn it off.

Is there anything which can be done to fix it?

I can't play SL for more than 5 mins without it crashing :S other games run perfectly Ok. Sometimes SL even makes my PC crash completely -.-

AMD 3200+
7600GT
1Gb RAM

EDIT: Seem to crash a LOT when building and using the the ctrl, shift and ctrl+shift shortcuts for moving / rotating / resizing prims.

EDIT: I'm going to edit this every time sl crashes and say what I was doing.
All times are GMT
[14:34]: Crashed While using "right alt + click" to rotate camera while building
[14:43]: Crashed after pressing "shift" to do the "ctrl+shift" command while building.
[14:50]: Crashed while scrolling mousewheel in to zoom in, again while building.
[14:55]: (Sigh...) Crashed JUST AFTER releasing "right alt + click" to rotate camera while building.
[15:02]: Switched region to make sure it wasn't the sim I was in, started clicking on prims in build mode and SL crashed again. There was a lot of corrupt textures before the crash as well.
[15:19]: Switched prim I was editing, or at least I was about to click the next prim, when SL crashed. Had just been Ctrl+Z'ing

I am pretty sure that my crashing problem has to do with the Nvidia drivers. I have tried different releases, re-installed drivers, re-installed SL, defragged my drives and ran diskchecker. Nothing stops the crashes.

I have also started having a problem with Linux where the entire desktop will freeze and I need to shut the computer off manually to get out of it. This is rare and still doesnt happen as often as the crashes in Windows. I am currently trying different troubleshooting methods.

I am thinking that SL is having trouble with Nvidia drivers or vice versa.

Mizzi, try clearing the cache in SL. I have heard that helps. The same thing happened to me. Unfortunately, clearing the cache didn't help. SL used to run great. What happened and where are the Lindens on all these problems??

I have the same problem as described above. When I start SL, it crashes. One moment after a couple of minutes, mostly after just a couple of seconds. Please help! I was never able to play SL this way, and I really want to play it. Today I have uninstalled SL and downloaded and installed it again.

BTW: sorry for my bad English.

I'm not sure if it will help with the nvida cards. But I found out last weekend that it is the AA being enabled that is causing the random crashes on the Xseries of chipset for ATI.

Try disabling AA, and see if you are any more stable?

I had the same problem as this and after reading this post, i disabled AA and everything is fine even though SL looks pretty ugly now! BUT what i am wandering is, is it worth downloading the Omega drivers so i can use AA again?

Thanks.
