Quick Question here...It seems when I upload sounds that sound fine on my system when they make their way to SL the volume is cut drastically...they are the typical 44.1 16bit stereo...is there a trick to retaining the "record level" after uploading?
Thanks,
DK

use a sound-processing program that gives you a db level on your sample (the kind that usually goes green thru -12, -6, up to +0db, then 'into the red' over that level). tweak the loudness of your sample so it goes nice and loud without going into the red - typical peaks -5 to -2 dbs. if you want something more 'whispery', then only level it to around -10 dbs. then upload!! (for mac os x - you can't beat audacity. it's free!

have to leave that to other pc-heads to recommend. btw, the upload will mix your sound to mono, 'cuz all avi/object triggered sounds are pinpointed/'located' in the 3d environs, if you will. other observers will hear the sound eminate from 'the left' or 'the right' or wherever, depending where they're facing. i'd never tell someone to throw their machine out the window! lol actually i'd love a nice game pc just to run ms flightsim...
