Client crashes whenever I right click on myself, and select 'Appearance...'. Drag and dropping outfits already in folders onto myself is fine though, its only when I want to actually edit things.

Probably video card related.

Its the same card and pc I've had for the last 6 months. Its only with the last update that it started misbehaving, and its only in Second Life and only when I try to change appearance. I also updated the drivers just two weeks ago with the lastest ones (nvidia).

It will either get fixed or it won't. This is just one of many games I play and the rest are all fine.

Thanks for the ideas though! :)

You might try changing the option in Preferences that says Automatic Apearance Camera Movement. It's under the Camera Tab. Or maybe that option in the Advanced Graphics tab that says Avatar Vertex Program.

I have no idea if that'll help, but it's worth a shot. :)

What kinda setup are you running? CPU, Motherboard, Video Card etc? Do you have the latest drivers for everything?

Trying out suggestions

1) I've uninstalled and reinstalled SL.
2) I've verified that I have the latest drivers (as I mentioned I did in the prior post).
3) Since City of Heroes, Silkroad Online, Far Cry, Lego Star Wars, etc all run beautifully with no slow down or choppiness, and I only noticed the problem in the last month, I'm guessing its Second Life... its the only program affected.
4) Cleaned the registry, deleted the cache, defragged the drive, ran HiJack This, virus checked, etc ( I know what I'm doing ;) ).
5) Lowered all the graphics settings and made the camera appearance changes that Vlad suggested ( must be a new setting, I never noticed that before...)
6) Checked all services that are running against the ones recommended at Black Viper.com
7) Running Sygate Personal Firewall, Spybot Search and Destroy (resident), and StartUp Monitor.

Just waiting for the grid to come back online after this mornings patch to test it out.

As for what I'm running...

Intel 2.66 gHz Pentium Prescott (the one without the hyperthreading)
Windows 2000 Service Pack 4
Nvidia 5200 AGP at 4xAGP on the motherboard
1 gig ram

Honestly, SL runs so crappy lately I'm losing interest, so I'm not sure I care if this problem gets solved or not. But its free, and I have no reason to complain about it. I have had no problems at all until about a month ago, and I've been here almost a year now. Its just someplace I check in every once in a while. Its fun when it works.

Ok, untoggling the 'Automatic Appearance Camera Movement' checkbox has solved the problem.

Thanks for the advice Vlad!

Its doing it again... toggling and untoggling that checkbox does nothing... sending lots of crash reports though so...
