After suffering a virus attack last night and getting a hard drive wipe, current system is in the shop, but the owner is really selling me on a system he puts together. I've heard people do this kind of post before but hope you don't mind again. Any game experts tell me if this would be great system to run SL on or other recommendations you might have.
AMD 64 3200+ 120 GB drive w/ SATA PCI-E Abit Guro motherboard Nvidia 6600 256mb video 512 MB RAM DVD-DL 4x 16x DVD+/-R/RW 52x CDRW
Thats it. Any red flags there of something NOT to get? Thanks for the input and sorry for the possible repetitious subject matter.

I'd make sure that you have a Socket 939 CPU and motherboard. Socket 754 is being phased out, and you don't want that. As for the board itself, get a Nvidia nForce4-based board. They're a lot better than most of the other Athlon 64 chipsets. Finally, I'd recommend you get an Asus A8N-SLI board, rather than the Abit. Asus, because they're good, and the SLI gives you greater expansion possibilities in future.

Uping the 512 MB RAM to 1 GB RAM wouldn't hurt either

From: Edav Roark Uping the 512 MB RAM to 1 GB RAM wouldn't hurt either I went ahead and upgraded to 2 GB..at $70 per 512 figured it was worth it in the long run. Now just waiting for the magical call telling me it's ready to go, so that I can then get in que line behind everyone else waiting to get in Thanks guys!
