that does work but i dont like it that way. it forces my hand off the mouse. and you need to hit them again to get rid of it. pressing the 'alt' was nice and slick.

Are you sure it isn't just turned off? There's an option in View, and it's off by default. Perhaps your settings got goofed up. Haven't tried it yet myself, though.

If you don't want to take your hand off the mouse you can do edit mode on one of your transparent items and click it off and it toggles them back.

OK, right -- this great feature is gone.
There used to be a checkbox under "View": "Alt shows physical". It's gone.
BTW, pressing Alt did not show transparent objects, it showed objects that interact somehow. "Physical" was a misnomer. Anyway, any object that had a 'touch' handler would glow red, whether it was invisible or not. No doubt there were other things that glowed red, but I don't know the details.
I miss this feature and would like to see it back!

very useful key gone

The ability to do a quick press of alt and see any touchable items in your frame was an extremely useful thng if you knew about it, and was something I always told people about when explaining the interface. Am I to assume that the useless voice function has stolen the Alt key for its own divisive purposes? Ctl Alt t is not the same thing at all, although it will show those items, along with anything else invisible to clutter up the screen, and it extremly cumbersome to use. I can understand the necessity of changing the interface to add new fuctionality...but this was considered such a useful function that it has always been on the alt key as a single press. To go from being considered a base fuction to not useful at all in one release, with no warning, seems a bit of a stretch.

Worse yet, whenever you go into edit mode, it's the same as hitting the alt key (before). That is, all touchable objects glow red. This can be a real visual nuisance when editing.
