I'm counting on Torley to catch this one... LOL... She's so good at catching everything... Anyways... Here are some new things that should be added to some of the Preferences and the reason I'm putting it here instead of on the Votes is because I want to know if there are quite a few people out there that use it besides me... Ok here it goes... Just write in to say if you use the option or not... Take into account that most of these are - commands that can be placed after SecondLife.exe in the Link on your desktop or whenever you run SL from a command prompt...

-port <port> (allows you to change the initial port that SL operates on)
If it wasn't for this command I wouldn't be able to be in the same SIM as my girlfriend and her brother who live with me and are on the same LAN... Thus we are running on the same port on the same ip and when we are in a SIM together we just crash out... This only happens with about 50% of the routers out there... Some of them can work around it...

-noprobe (Please verify the spelling or usage... Used to force SL not to probe for hardware... Very useful whenever you begin having hardware issues with a new update of SL or just issues in general)
I haven't used this yet but have had to use it on a few friends PC's and it seems to correct their problems... Especially when it's a Video Card Problem...

-purge (Now this is a great one... It will purge your Cache before SL starts up...)
This is very helpful on machines with low size Hard Drives (by saving space) and also helps with rezzing textures... Believe it or not... Sometimes SL just doesn't want to do what it's supposed to do... Can you believe that??? LOL...

Anyways that's what I've gotten so far... If you know of any other - commands that should be added to this list let me know and I'll throw it in there... These are the only ones that I know so far and that's through various surfing through the Forums... But like I said... If you can let me know how much you use any of these options... The port command would be the one that I'm most interested in... Everytime there is an update of SL I have to change all the links so that they change the port again otherwise.. CRASH CRASH CRASH...

I sure had a look. =^.^=

One reason why these settings are out of the way is because they aren't the most commonly used--or at least, aren't perceived to be. Things in Preferences are easy-access for switching.

If many Resis expressed interest in these in a way similar to how FORCE SUN was moved from DEBUG to WORLD menu, it might be possible!

And, thank you. Hehe.

Yeah that's pretty much what I had figured as far as these options go... I'm trying to get a following to see if maybe I can get them thrown into atleast the Debug Menu... It's getting to the point I wanna go nutz having to edit my Second Life Shortcuts just be able to get back in... LOL...

How about something like the Firefox "about:config" editor, something in between plain text and a full preferences interface?
