Just checking if I'm the only one who gets this. It has been bug reported.
Steps:
1) Rez an object (Nothing you don't have a copy of!) 2) Right click the object and choose edit 3) Leave the edit menu open and right click and choose wear
You will now crash. On relog the object will be worn on your av but not exist, it will not show up in your inventory. It will be recognised on the Detach Object menu but will not be named. Removing the object will cause it to cease to exist.

I don't crash, and I followed your steps exactly. Can you repeat it over and over?

youre not alone i can get this editing prims now and then, but cant figure it out, very random for me, happend mostly when editing anything linked, unlinked, attached , or single prims.
Edit a prim , leave edit, crash, no error just plops out.

Just tried to duplicate this, no crash for me. There is abit of a pause or hiccup as the object is worn, but no crash. Hope they can get this fixed for ya'

I think this might be related to prim count. I get it every time with very high prim objects (Weapons).

edit window open = crash and burn
07-29-2006 21:31
I have noticed lately that if I have the edit window open I will get seemingly random crashes when clicking on menu tabs or right after a texture finishes uploading. Because I build pretty much all the time, this is absolutely maddening.

Eata, can you please send me a copy of one of the objects that crashes you every time when doing what you described? I'll check it out. Thank you.
(This sounds familiar--I think I've had a similar, or related problem in the past, but it was sporadic and not quite so constant.)

[UPDATE] Sweet gun. O, where was I now: I successfully managed to repro this and crashed a trio of times. Bug entered in our system, and I noted that it specifically happens (as far as we know) with complex objects like your Desert Eagle. Rock on and thanx for your help, Eata.

From: Eata Kitty One of my Desert Eagles will do it every time Torley, I will send you one. or a few actually as you lose the gun each crash. Happens to me too while I'm creating hair. I used to be able to for example, change the hair I am texturing while keeping the edit window open. Now if I change from one to another I crash. And I am SO Used to just dragging the next one on my avie to texture that I keep doing it UGHHH. So annoying. I think (hope) I've broken the habit finally tho. Yes I did a report.

Eep! I'd had this happen once. I'll make sure to take off attachments before editing them until this gets verifably cleared. Thanks!

[UPDATE] Callum Linden has *just* fixed this internally. Watch for it soon in a future version of Second Life. If certain objects still cause you to crash, email me (torley@lindenlab.com) ASAP and send me a copy of the item that causes you to crash. We'll be on it again!
