lol yeah Norton and McAfee both are not friendly with SL. Textures in particular freak them out, which means they have been known to quietly bork people's caches. You may want to explicitly exclude the SecondLife data directory from Norton's tender attentions. In XP that is at:
C:\Documents and Settings\<your userid>\Application Data\SecondLife
Sorry, I don't know Vista.

In vista the folder is:
C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Roaming\SecondLife
AppData is a hidden folder so enable hidden folders to see it...

Try d/l'ing and installing AVAST! Antivirus. Its free and works great. It plays well with WindLight too.

Norton AV takes a lot of memory, I recommend nod 32, or a good firewall and be careful with the things you download .

Anything produced by Norton is essentially the devil's work. Until the day you uninstall it, you are a ne'er do good, and your computer will ne'er do well.
