Alright, i'm stumped. I've tried upgrading vid drivers, downgrading vid drivers, i've checked my fans and my temperatures..

NV 6800 GTS, no overclocking, no overheating issues, i tried downgrading some drivers, and upgrading, no luck. I do have the AMD 64 bit driver patch installed, and i'm using a 20" widescreen acer LCD. I even installed omega drivers, which i'm about to reboot and test, but i'm not holding my breath. If drivers i used back in 2006 don't clear up the problem, i doubt those will either.

I dunno WTF is going on, but i know the symptoms, and its keeping me from getting stuff done that i really need to get done in sl. i can't use SL for more than a few minuts before it craps out and often takes the entire PC with it. Thanks alot LL. I skipped a few versions, i wasn't on for a month or so, so in the last few days i just updated to the latest on the website.l i have also tried the latest one released today, no luck, i have also tried windlight, no difference.

First off, the symptoms: starting off, secondlife runs great! But then after a few minuts i have these weird..glitches. its like the video card is being reset, it does a really quick redraw, i mean real quick, blink of an eye kind of thing. but its not the whole screen, its just SL.

this continues for a while, every few mins this happens, and then they start to take longer and be preceded by long program hangs. eventualy the glitches are gone, and the hangs persist.

A little after that, these program hangs turn into /system/ hangs, and most of the time take down my entire machine.

So far i think about 15 to 20 mins is my record. I have tried some of the older nv drivers, now sl just plain crashes without taking my computer with it, but it happens the first time it glitches, not 15 mins down the road. so i get to see sl for about..oh, two minutes.

I need suggestions. real ones, please, if your suggestion is 'check the fans', please don't. Yes, i know, overheats cause glitching,i watched the temp while SL was running - the fans are fine, i know my temprature is fine, all other heavy 3d apps are fine.

I keep asking myself why i pay 200 a month for this crap. Phone support (thats concierge support people, not standard member support) was about as useful as a hole in my head. Person was more concerned about a messed up land group teir problem on my account than the fact i can't get the hell on SL for more than a few mins at a time. well gee wiz buckaroo, if i could stay logged in for any amount of time i'd have that problem fixed by now! DUH? sigh..

So.. now i'm asking for help from the general populace. I need to get this figured out. I'm still playing with it trying to make it stop doing it, but so far i'm not having any luck at all. I have tenants and land stuff to take care of, too, hence the urgency.

Nevermind, i just rolled everything back three versions (SL included) and magically its back to being crappy but not hosing my entire machine every 5 minuts, i can at least stay on for about half an hour before it gets too bad.

Just a tip for people who need to roll back SL, go to the download page and open the link in a new window, delete the exe file and you can find the other versions in the xml file that pops up.

Driver cleaner pro did the rest.

PS, this still sucks. fix it.

Okay, apparently SL has some sort of bizarre issue with being on a widescreen LCD on my system, I'm not sure why, but thank god I have a dual screen setup and i'm able to use SL over on the non-widescreen LCD and it works just fine and dandy.

It's also an acer LCD, but its just a 20 inch and not a 20 inch WIDE.

I even updated to the latest SL client and it also works just fine, i think the new NV drivers also work okay, will try that later after i finish all my land chores.
