Ok so he got the email with the link to rest his password and he clicked on it and it went to a page that said:
My Account
We are unable to complete your request at this time. Please contact Second Life support for assistance. For more information and numbers to other countries please refer to our support page.
and he has tried for days and it still dose not work
Please help

In any case he should call Linden Lab's Support line and speak with someone or leave a message if prompted to do so.
