now the problem is:
when I play just the game i get great results high fps low ping (great tracert)
when i do just voice i get great results no issues (tried google, skype and yahoo)(great tracert)
when i do game and voice my systems bottlenecks my voice goes bad and my ping in game does high over 4000...(horrid tracert).
i am going thrugh a router and i have take the system off the router and did a direct connect and still the same issues...
also my voice is so low on all chats unless i turn on +20db boost and it makes my game chat experience evern worst.
i am using SB X- FI audio
i have updated every driver i can... and i did a hardware check through Dell... any ideas...

I'm not following what you mean by "when I do voice". Since SL obviously has no voice chat ability, I assume you mean you're using some other type of service that allows you to use your voice to communicate over the internet at the same time as you're using SL. So what is it exactly you're trying to do? Are you using a VOIP phone service like Vonix? A voice chat program like Ventrilo or Teamspeak? Another game that has voice chat built in? Something else?
As for the voice volume issue, is it just your voice that's too low, or is it all voices? If it's just yours, it could be anything from a bad microphone to a bad cable to software issue. If it's all voices, then it's probaby something in whatever voice com software you're using.
Either way, I don't see how it would make your "game chat even worse" since chat in SL is all text.

Choosen, you are right voice is done with google, skype, yahoo, any of them...
if she plays the game, all is fine...if she just does voice (yahoo, google, skype) she is fine..
But when voice and the game, the pings go thru the roof, makes game unplayable, the voice breaks up as well.
Her old system, a P4 with 256megs of ram, was fine, never had an issue with existing network equipment.
People have pointed toward the video card. Have updated drivers, etc...thinking about downloading a older version of the nvidia driver to see if that makes a difference...
But seeing if anything one else seen this problem, as without voice (1 thing using network) all is fine, with just game >30 fps, ping <80ms, all fine...but do the two together and >4000ms ping, voice breaks up, etc..etc..while older system with 256M of ram was fine.

sign desperatly seeking game and voice I have a similar system, 7800GTX, X-Fi, 2 gigs of ram. I have had some issues with but not anywhere as bad as this. I noticed adding -noprobe to the end of secondlife.exe's shortcut stopped my mic volume from spazing out and my sound from crackling. You explained your computer specs well, but not your ISP, what kind of internet connection do you have? Also how fast is it? seems like SL puts the nail in the coffin in voice when your bandwidth is being used more.

hi

cable modem ..same as i had on the old gateway which is a pent4 but only had 256 ram so i didnt want to buy memory ...instead it was easier to buy a new computer...
i had no issues with voice(skype, google, yahoo) using it at the same time as sl....my ping was average for a machine with 256 memory and i moved along fine
BUT WHEN IN GAME AND USING AN OUTSIDE CHAT(google, skpe or yahoo) On the new machine the DELL i hear fine when someone talks..my voice is incredible low .....unless i do the boost which puts my ping will over..5000up
and again without the boost my voice is low and i ping 4000sign
seems something is bottlenecking my networkcard ..could it be bad out of the box.. even if it checks out ok???
i got 30 days of on call service with Dell (helps dell computer interact with any software) and he cannot figure it out spent about..4hours on the phone with them last night ..
ugh!

One thing that comes to mind is maybe popping the "priority" on the voice proggy a lil higher. Cntrl alt del, Processes, and then select your voice chat proggy and push it up a step or two in priority. Also make sure you're only running one chat proggy and SL at the same time and disable yahoo messenger or other proggys that are going to suck bandwidth and cpu cycles.
Skype is getting better about resources but it's still a big ole cpu/bandwidth hog. I find that Yahoo is not so hot either, esp. considering how cruddy it sounds, well to be fair nothing I've tried sounds as good as skype. However, TeamSpeak I find is very light on cpu and bandwidth and can sound awfully damn good. Not stereo like Skype but decent phone quality.
I've got a different system but I've had issues similar to yours when trying to do voice chat, SL and run my radio station at the same time, and these are the things that help.
Also clear caches, reboot before starting a "call" and maybe every 4 or 5 hours of talk/gameplay, can help. Of course running a clean machine, w/out spyware/adware and nicely defragged will help as well. yes it's a new machine but is the heirachy of order for the progams helping or working against you? Sometimes the newest driver isnt' the best one for SL, but I think you looked at that.
Also , I find that some software will reset audio settings (for no damn good reason) and it means that one must re-do settings in (skype teamspeak whatever) and on the audio card control setup to get things running well again.
Good luck!
