Client freezing starting with 1.6.0. Anyone else?

Starting with 1.6.0 I have this constant problem of the SL client completely freezing and going unresponsive occasionally. It happens more often if I move but it also happens while I'm downloading content. It's *REALLY* bad if I teleport somewhere. If I turn my bandwidth down to like 150 bps and move really fast I can usually get places safer, but when I get there its anyone's guess until it will lock up.

1.6.1 didn't address it and 1.6.2 hasn't either.

My system has an SLI graphics card but other than that there's really nothing unusual about it. My old system doesn't have this freezing problem but I get really tired of 4 frames per second.

Anyone else have this problem? I haven't started playing with the video settings yet, but I really shouldn't HAVE to considering this didn't start until 1.6.0...

Most of your post-1.6 crash reports reference bad network data. Are you using wireless networking? If so, have you tried using a direct wired connection? Also, are you using any internet security or firewall software? If so, have you tried disabling it to see if it is interfering with Second Life access?

Try turning off shadows in your video preferences. I know that cleared things up for me when I had lockups from 1.6 onward.

I have two systems on the same wired (not wireless) gigabit network that run Second Life. One is an XP system with an SLI graphics card. It has the freezing problem which only started with 1.6.0. The other is an old dual P3 with an Nvidia FX5200 that runs it at 4-10 FPS and drives me insane, but works, and doesn't freeze. So its safe to say the issue is not with my network or my DSL because it only freezes on one computer and not the other.

Other than that, I don't know what to tell you.

I disabled shadows and the lockup problem has ceased! Thanks a lot for pointing that out Sean!
