I want to give this game a try, and I've heard amazing things about it. But I'm having serious problems starting off

I have a 3.2GHz P4 CPU, 1GB of RAM, and a GF6800 video card.

I have two problems, and I don't know if their related

First off, things in the distance take FOREVER to load. I can sit in a single spot for 5 minutes and things will still be loading. Another thing is I'm having framerate issues, and responsiveness issues. When I move, it takes five seconds for the game to do that command.

I also have a 1.5MBit DSL connection.

I'm thinking this has to do with a firewall or port not opened. Please help

Try setting lower draw distance, to high take forever

Draw distance - 128-196m
Local light - off

Not sure what you have set your download bandwidth on in network option.

But yeh it can take quite a long time to rez sometimes in here, jerkyness can be immense depending how many avatars you have in view.

just a suggestion, I have a similar thread, but was able to at least make it so its playable. I just clicked on "turn on AGP acceleration" or whatever it says. Im using PCIE but figured Wtf, its worth a shot. I now run average 15FPS regardless where I am, its still choppy, but at least its playable. Just thought I would suggest that.

What they are using with that AGP option was stuff introduced to computers with AGP. PCIe can do the same things, so if your using PCIe (but not PCI) you should be able to use the AGP checkbox as well and get some improvement. Some ATI PCIe cards cannot use this option.

it just takes awhile for people to catch up with technology. it wont be as confusing when AGP is hardly seen anymore as PCIe is phasing AGP out.

Reduce the draw distance and local lighting off. Try turning off clouds to and/or turning off fog. Also, the DSL connection can make a difference if you are running web based apps in the background. I hate DSL.
