If someone sees you logged in, they need to TRACK YOUR AV DOWN IMMEDIATELY AND NOTE WHERE IT IS AND WHAT IT'S DOING.

It's possible (plausible) that your account has been hack and someone is in SL as you.

However, it's much more likely (especially if you were actually trying to log in at the time) that your avatar logged in and went line-dead during your connection attempt. In a case like this, you can freely ignore your av's presence (since it's directly caused by your login attempt).

That's the deal though, you can't ignore it because it locks the account out and they can't log on. Half an hour is a long time and if they didn't have an alt, what then?

Really? Last time I logged onto Second Life with one account on two different computers, the first user got booted with a message saying that someone else was logging on with that account.

The original problem was their avatar was appearing online to others but they were not online and could not get online because they kept crashing and was doing it 30minutes later. I can understand a crash and the agent may be still seen as being online for a few minutes but 30 is well past the inactivity timeout. They can't log back in since their client keeps crashing and your answer is they can "freely ignore your AV's presence" is reassuring I suppose but it doesn't help them get back on line. I'm not trying to be an ass, I am trying to learn how to help others and myself.

I just tried doing the two computers thing with one account and yes, it did boot the first client off but it also failed to connect the second computer giving an error message "Unable to connect. No reply from the login database". On the second try I got the same error message but I let it set and eventually the client connected approx 5 minutes later but the error message was still there. If their AV is hung up in such a away that doesn't boot it off (essentually what it sounds like) when they try to reconnect, is there anything they can do? The only thing my experience has told me is to just wait until it clears itself in a few hours but that can be very frustrating.
