My voice chat is activated and people can hear me, but I can't hear them. What i hears is like a crackly cell phone breaking up or silence. All the preferences are enabled, the volume is up, tried on puter speaker and headset, I have done all the knowledge base stuff, cleared cache, logged off and on, even did a clean uninstall and install, no change. All other voice chat applications on my puter work - Skype, yahoo voice, etc. I can hear everything else on my puter, just not sl. I have a brand new smoking imac with current updates.
HELP! Not only can i not play my rp game with my sl family, but next week i am due to soft open my sl business and voice chat is crucial.

Since a couple days ago, I've been having the exact same problem as you.
I've relogged over and over, cleared cache, reinstalled, and nothing helps. Other voice applications work, but SL voice doesn't.
Voice chat doesn't show others in the voice chat list, however other people can hear me consistently. Occasionally, others show up in the voice list, and rarely, I can near someone else, although then it returns to only myself appearing on the actice speakers list.
Anyone know how to fix this?

Mine is the opposite, I can hear them and they cant hear me, under preferences, everything is checked, but it seems my voice isnt working for me. help!

Do a microphone check. if you have any Steam game with voice, you can do a microphone check there to make sure your audio settings are done right. Also, what is your audio setup? And make sure your microphone isn't muted or turned down on your audio device. Idealy, since your symptoms are different this should be in a different thread. |

Please lets get back to the original post from me, and the original reply from Analog Nihilist.
For more than two weeks now I have been unable to hear in voice chat beyond the occasional crackly break up. I can hear all environmental sounds, just not voice. I have searched the knowledge base, submitted a ticket, and appear to have stumped everyone.
Please go back and read from the beginning and HELP!!!!
