Nvidia GEForce GO 7800 GTX--ripple water greyed out :(

Noticed people mention this in a few other threads. Does anyone still have it, and if so, what is your video card?

iMac Core Duo, ATI Radeon X1600... greyed out. Shouldn't be any problem for this card to do rippled water. Haven't tried to actually look at any water to see if the option is just greyed because it's now "always on" or what.

It's available on my X1800 XT 512MB, however it used to crash everytime I went too high so I don't use it.

Works fine on my ATi card.

someone suggested deinstalling the game and reinstalling to get the options back. Might be worth a try if you have the problem.

I have the option, running a GeForce FX5700LE (128MB) and v81.89 drivers on a WinXP-SP2 box w/ 1GB RAM.

(not bragging, I know it's not a "shit hot" system, just providing a reference point)

Ripple Water is grayed out for me as well. I had used it prior to the update, and miss it now that I can't enable it. I have an Nvidia GeForce GO 6800 GTX.

Oops... I coulda swore that ripple water was greyed out for me, but it's not. It was greyed in 1.9, so maybe that's what I was thinking of. Anyway, it is freakin' beautiful.

The option is enabled for me on a Radeon 9600, but I noticed that if I enable another option in the same window it disables ripple water effect and makes the box unselectable.

If I choose "Nearby Local Lights" instead of "Sun and Moon Only" under Lighting Detail and save the changes then re-open the preferences, the ripple water effect is no longer active and the box is not selectable. If I set back to "Sun and Moon Only" and save the changes, the next time I look "ripple water" is on and selectable again. So in other words, this and other options availablility, seem to depend on what other options have already been selected.

Works for me using an AGP FX5950 (128MB) with the latest NGO modded NVidia drivers mentioned by Striker.

I don't have it anymore... my graphics card is an Nvidia GeForce FX 5200. The drivers are listed as version 4.5.0.2, from 11/3/03, I have Windows XP. Never had any problems with graphics before now.

I checked the Nvidia website and downloaded a set of drivers they listed as 84.21 Forceware, which should be for this card, but I got nervous and stopped the installation partway through when I got a warning message that the drivers weren't verified (logo stamped?) by Microsoft (or something like that) and could potentially damage my system.

I had ripple water in the old version... am I going to have to get a new video card now? Am I being too wary, should the 84.21 drivers be okay (that is, safe) in spite of the warning message?

I really miss ripple water, and I'm not nuts about the prospect of buying a new video card... I'd appreciate any advice from more tech-minded people! :)

Update: I checked the Nvidia website and found out that the 'not Microsoft logo stamped' warning can be safely ignored. Went ahead and uninstalled the old drivers and installed the new 84.21 set, and now I have ripple water back! It's a bit laggier for me now, but the lighting looks great, so I'm willing to put up with it.
