sudden problem with skirt layer

Hi all! Ok, this started yesterday and is driving me a little nuts. Was trying on some newly purchased suits which had a skirt layer for the lower part of the jacket. The skirt layer, previously visible, disappeared from view though still indicating "worn" status in inventory. This affects everything I have in the skirt layer category (have tried with an alt with same results.) I'd downloaded Windlight just the day before and was running it when this happened and also remember having to redownload this viewer (couldn't get past the start screen otherwise) hours after the initial Windlight download. I have one previous viewer available to me which did not force me to redownload and the problem exists there as well. I've discovered that if I am in edit appearance mode the layer is visible but vanishes again when I close appearance window.
I've asked two other AVs if they could see my skirt layer and both said no although they too can see it if I am in edit appearance mode. Talked with live support who suggested that the problem was with my graphics card??? I'm not at all tech savvy but that doesn't sound right at all if item is easily viewable in edit mode. Anybody else have something like this happen to them and if so, any suggestions? (I've rebaked, cleared cache and cookies, relogged in low lag area, so far no results)
Thanks for any ideas.

The problem isn't you, it's a bug in Windlight.

Use your previous viewer. It's still there, Windlight installs to a separate directory and has its own desktop shortcut.

Remember, WL is a "First Look" viewer, not yet an official release. Expect beta, FL, and RC (Release Candidate) software to be buggier than an official release.

[EDIT: I re-read your post, and see that you're having the problem in your previous viewer too. Eek! I would try deleting and reinstalling it. ]

With the regular viewer (not WindLight), try wearing a skirt that's mod and if it dissapears, go into Edit appearance and change one of the sliders (for example: length), save and rebake.

Then change the slider back to its original value.
